The Dunk’s been cross-pollinated with the Vandal, a variety of Jordan’s have been bred with the Air Force One and now it looks like the Terminator has been humping the Dunk. Alife Rivington Club (A.R.C.) and New Zealand’s Canterbury put their heads together for a quick collection around Canterbury’s rugby jerseys. When we say rugby here, we’re not just talking about the cut of the shirt; Canterbury is the preeminent Rugby brand in the world, famous for not just jerseys but also pads, helmets and the like. Some serious rugby heritage here, this is what the players have been wearing since 1904. The story goes that each color is produced in only 22 pieces- one for every player on a rugby team. The smaller sized jersey’s run with smaller numbers, while the larger size numbers run on the bigger size shirts. Look for them of course at the new A.R.C. shop on Rivington in NYC, but also at Los Angeles and Vancouver Alife outposts.

Distributing their wares through both the 21 Mercer Street door and select boutiques via: the Capsule tradeshow, Nike and the men’s fashion tradeshow teamed up to cap off the first day of fashion and fun with a soiree at the shop. With DJ Soul on the decks, the party catered to the media and industry people in NYC for market week. Master of the “cheki” photo, Japanese photographer Yasumasa Yonehara has gained a cult following with his cheeky cheesecake photos. Snapping shots of young broads is any young man’s dream, so can’t blame any of his fans for appreciating the art form. Teaming up with Tokyo brand Quolomo and supported by Dazed & Confused Japan, Yonehara will exhibit his work at the QUOLOMO YONE Show, this January 23rd through February 28th. For those who can’t make it to Tokyo, check out the exhibit’s site on February 1st, where you can purchase a limited series of tees using images from the exhibit. Kobe’s been rocking his Zoom Kobe IVs for a month now. On version number five, dubbed the “Mamba”, Nike spices up the silhouette again, this time in a Lakers gold and purple number with a scaled accent around the collar. For those willing to test the waters of avant-street, PHENOMENON has been, well, phenomenal over the past few seasons. Not diverging from their experimental path, the Japanese brand’s Spring collection will begin to trickle out this month with a couple clever pieces, each with a twist. First we have the Trick Jacket, which has a faux button up in back to mirror the front, in what one can only assume as an homage to Kris-Kross. The other item is one only PHENOMENON could dream up- a pair of skinny cut overalls in rigid denim. Nuff said on that, we’ll let the pictures do the talking. Both items will be available at Choice Is Yours January 26th.

Taking a stab at a home team remix, Shop Gentei has spiffed up the good old Baltimore Oriole in a Knicks-ish colorway that might have some sports fans confused at first glance. This cap is limited to Gentei, but luckily you can cop it through their online shop while it lasts.

Nike Sportswear continues their Hall Of Fame series tonight with New York Giants legend Harry Carson, naming Carson as the third inductee to the 21 Mercer Hall Of Fame. Hosted by Chris Isenberg of No Mas fame, the evening is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with a sports legend and mingle in the Nike Sportswear space. 2009 will be a big year for Japanese streetwear mainstay SWAGGER. This July marks a decade in design for the pioneering brand and this month they’re releasing their Spring collection. Titled “Hotter Than Them” the line includes outerwear, denim accessories and of course a few hoodie options. Staying true to their roots, the Spring line includes SWAGGER’s hallmark experimentation with classic hip-hop silhouette’s like the M-65 and stadium jacket. As always, they top off the collection with a range of accessories, this time including a new iPhone case, a couple fedora options and some leather goods that play with stud accents.
