
In early 2007 Kid Robot worked with LA based independent record label, Stones Throw on the limited edition ‘Mad Villain’ figure to represent rapper, MF Doom. This year Kid Robot is working with Stones Throw again to represent yet another rappers alter ego. This time the figure being producer, rapper, DJ, multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, and Mad Lib’s own ‘bad character’, ‘Quasimoto’. Recently Stones Throw posted a brief story of how Quasimoto came about, and included a couple of pictures for the upcoming toy. Stones Throw promises that the ‘Quasimoto’ figure will be produced in even more limited numbers than the quick selling ‘Mad Villain’ toy. The ‘Quasimoto’ figures are eight inches tall, and will be available in equal quantities in their yellow, or blue versions. Each ‘Quasitmoto’ figure is holding a brick, and smoking a hand rolled ‘cigarette’. The release date of the Kid Robot x Stones Throw ‘Quasimoto’ figure is February 19. However, in the meantime you can read more information on the history of Lord Quas, and pre-order your figures now only at StonesThrow.com. If you happen to miss out on the pre-sale, the figures will still be available at Kid Robot stores as well as a few select retailers on the day of release.

On the eve of President Obama’s inauguration, the local DC street wear scene threw a celebration like no other. The event featured music and hors d’oeuvres as well as special celebrity guest appearances by D.C.’s own Wale, and Bun B of UGK. The shops in charge of the event; Commonwealth and Stussy DC also collaborated on a special event tee to coincide with the celebration. The tee is available in black or white and features the logos of all those involved on the back. The front of the tee goes for a cleaner approach summing up the occasion in one word, ‘Historic’. The design uses a few familiar characters in the ‘Historic’ font including; the Stussy ‘S’, Obama’s ‘O’ logo, and Commonwealth’s ‘C’. Active Ride Shop has long been a staple where skateboarders and skate shoe lovers alike get their kicks. Last year Active teamed up with several different skate shoe companies in a charitable effort to design shoes for their special “Drop Sneakers Not Bombs” campaign. This year the campaign will kick off again on November 11th, and once more a portion of proceeds will go to the Invisible Children’s cause. Here we see the first sneak peak of this installment, a VANS Half Cab. Quite possibly the most popular skate shoe ever produced, the VANS Half Cab has dominated the skate shop shelves for nearly 20 years. This special edition Half Cab is set apart from the rest with its use of several premium leathers on its upper including quilted leather and oiled suede. A thick black pinstripe sets the off white mid sole a part from the upper. Each pair comes topped off with leather shoe strings. Summer is drawing to a close and footwear companies are getting ready to close out the year by toning down a bit and releasing more Fall and Winter friendly colorways. On October 1st, Lakai Limited will release the “Black Pack”. It features three of Lakai’s most popular Signature Models - The Carroll, Koston, and Howard Selects. Each sneaker will feature a multitude of premium materials, including high quality oiled and embossed leathers, cool grey out soles, and waxed cotton laces to top it all off. The “Black Pack” will be a huge upgrade from the standard suede/nubuck combo that has, unfortunately, become somewhat of a cliche in today’s skateboarding footwear.
