
Just a year ago Puma announced their partnership with artist Kehinde Wiley in anticipation of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The partnership started with an exhibition “Legends Of Unity” at the Dietch Projects followed by a series of collaborative Puma products. After the initial success of the Addicted To Fresh All Black Stadium Jacket Black Friday release, ATF is back with another two for the season. Two ATF stadium jackets will be released this Saturday at Premium Goods along with an amazing stock of ‘heat’. The first of the Navy Editions is a mostly wool jacket with a navy/white/red chenille ATF logo on the left breast and “Addicted To Fresh” written out in chenille lettering on the back. The second of the Navy Edition features the same branding treatments but white tumble leather is used in place of the wool sleeves. Both jackets feature white/navy/red details, red piping around the shoulders and leather trim around the outer pockets. As for numbers, the navy wool and white leather version is limited to 7 pieces and the entirely navy wool version is limited to 17 pieces. Last week, Freshness was out in LA for All Star Game footwear previews as well as a press conference with Kobe Bryant and Director Robert Rodriguez for the Black Mamba film. Most who attended left with what looks like a model black mamba sneak in a glass case, but it actually is one of the best USB thumb drives ever. Director Robert Rodriguez join Kobe Bryant this past Sunday in Los Angeles at The Vault to discuss the Nike Basketball production of The Black Mamba which stars Kobe Bryant, Kanye West, Bruce Willis and Danny Trejo. The first question off the bat toward Kobe was how did you get Kanye involved “Did you call Kanye and say hey…”. Other interesting questions for Kobe included whether he felt weird transitioning over to Hollywood since “everyone in Hollywood usually comes to see you.” They go on to discuss getting Robert Rodriguez involved in the project, sequels and even a little about the new Kobe Bryant Nike Sportswear line. At the presentation of the Nike Basketball Los Angeles All Star Game Footwear, three new Air Force 1s were shown for the first time. The three pack loosely takes on the three Nike Basketball themes of East LA, Orange County and Hollywood. The Orange County (pictured above) features a white upper with hits of blue and red and seems to tie up the the Nike Basketball theme the best. While the East LA Air Force 1 is more of a simple black and white design and on the Hollywood Air Force 1 white and gold is used in the design. Look for 2011 All Star Game Air Force 1s the second week of February at select Nike Sportswear retailers.

Yesterday in Los Angeles at The Vault at the Staples Center, Nike Basketball presented Los Angeles themed footwear for the 2011 NBA All Star Game. The event began with an overview of the Nike Zoom Kobe VI which was a perfect lead up to the All-Star Game footwear presentation by Nike Product Graphic Designer Eric Goto. He started the presentation with the with the East LA inspired pack which is hinted with Dodgers blue, the pack is lead by the East LA Nike Zoom Kobe VI but also includes two Hyperfuse Low and an Air Force 1. The second pack is inspired by the Orange County area, on the Zoom Kobe VI the upper is a print of the beautiful sunsets of the area and this pack also includes two Hyperfuse Low and an Air Force 1. Finally, the last piece is the Hollywood inspired pack which features a 3D themed Zoom Kobe VI where the design utilizes the red and blue of old school stereoscopic 3D processing. The 3D inspiration is also the overarching theme used through out All Star Game footwear, while not directly used, you’ll start to see packaging using a mixture of stereoscopic 3D along with lenticular materials and in some footwear you’ll see the use of lenticular material. Earlier today, Kobe Bryant and Robert Rodriguez presented the second trailer to the upcoming The Black Mamba movie at The Vault after the Lakers vs Celtics game. After a short presentation of upcoming All Star Game footwear, Nike Basketball had the two give a select group of media a run down of how it all happened. Yesterday in New York City, Jordan Brand officially unveiled the Air Jordan 2011 to a select group of media. Jordan Brand held one on one sittings with the designer of this years Air Jordan flagship, Senior Footwear Designer Tom Luedecke. We first had Luedecke give us an over view of the 2011 where he goes into detail about designing for today’s basketball athlete and the different styles of play, Tinker’s initial sketches, showing Michael the initial plan and merging current technology with fine craftsmanship. We followed up with a questions on the significance of the pattern, the interchangeable insoles, Michael’s input and Wade’s input. Stash has been busy lately, most recently we saw the STASH x Packer Shoes x Reebok Graphlite Pump and the STASH x WeSC Debut Sneaker Collection. Sneaker magazine Shoes Up just revealed an upcoming collection of boots with Sebago. Using the Sebago Beacon boot as the canvas, Stash added his signature spray can splatter on five colorways of the boot. Look for the collection this coming February 2011.
