World famous customizer SBTG is revisiting his D.I.Y. roots to create a new collection of customized apparel, accessories and footwear called Garage Days. The collection takes note from SBTG’s childhood hobby of customizing everyday objects around him, from printing his own tees, painting his toys and as simple as putting a few patches on his backpacks. In 2003, SBTG moved onto customizing his sneakers and his skillful and creative hand gained him the attention of sneaker heads world wide. In this new decade, that creative energy has come full circle with Garage Days, a line full of artistic expression. While attention is put on the Garage Days apparel and sneaker collection, customized signs, lamps, and even a hanger set are all part of the collection. All are available at royalefam.com

Last Thursday, Jordan Brand held a media launch event for Chris Paul’s fourth signature sneaker, the Jordan CP3.IV in New Orleans. Jordan Brand and Chris Paul took over the New Orleans Arena for the special announcement which included a few activities for the attendees. All attending media were given their own locker labeled with their name and stocked with with an athletic outfit, duffel and a pair of the House of Hoops exclusive Jordan CP3.IV in Black/Orion Blue. After suiting up, designer Jayson Mayden spoke briefly with the media group via Skype since he’s currently getting his Masters at Stanford. Chris Paul joined the group shortly after for a Q&A session with Jayson Mayden and the group. A few interesting facts came from the Q&A, designer Jayson Mayden is actually an avid toy collector and took inspiration from a Gundam figure while designing the CP3.IV. When asked about getting input from Michael Jordan, Chris Paul mentioned that the low-cut sneaker was actually an idea from Michael Jordan who suggested exploring a low-cut sneaker for his quickness. Michael Jordan’s legacy played another role on the CP3.IV, the asymmetrical collar is modeled after the Air Jordan XIII Low which is Paul’s favorite Air Jordan model. He also talked about being in the sixth grade and having his first pair of Air Jordan XIII stolen from his locker while he played basketball. Mayden and Paul when into detail talking about the process, the sneaker and took a number of questions from the group. After the Q&A, Jordan Brand recreated the NBA Skills Challenge for the media group to test drive the new CP3.IV and four of the fastest finishers were invited to participate in championship round. Take a look below for a pictorial of the Jordan CP3.IV launch event in New Orleans, for those interested we also filmed the Q&A session…
Also note that Jordan Brand just launched a CP3K game.

July 10th was the last time Carmelo Anthony made a public appearance in New York City, a life-defining occasion in which the Brooklyn-born basketball superstar wed his wife LaLa Vasquez in a gorgeous ceremony at Cipriani’s with a star-studded list of invitees. Rumors of another ‘Big Three’ to counter Miami’s three-headed monster of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh began when fellow NBA stars Chris Paul and Amare Stoudemire – close friends of Melo – playfully threatened to create their own triumvirate of NBA elites. Since then, the sports media has surrounded Carmelo Anthony, with the primary topic of conversation being his apparent desire to play in his hometown with the New York Knicks. According to sources close to Melo, it’s New York City or bust, based on alleged statements made after his game against – who else – the New York Knicks.
But before the highly anticipated and publicized game, Carmelo Anthony made some noise that was considerably less dramatic than all the free-agency talk. Smiling profusely from ear to ear, an excited Carmelo Anthony graced the center stage at the Foot Locker House of Hoops before a crowd of devoted fans who were eager to meet him in person and to learn about the all new Jordan Melo M7. Carmelo takes great pride in his signature line of shoes with Jordan Brand, and that much is evident as he is involved from beginning to end in the design and production as well as in the marketing of the shoe, which included a ‘Do Whatever It Takes’ ad campaign, an Twitter-based giveaway, and a set of faux-interviews in a segment titled ‘Ball Talk’ with Lewis Campbell. During his House of Hoops visit, Melo talked at length about the Melo M7 while simultaneously revealing his inner character as he delved into his personal life a bit – just enough to keep ears and eyes glued to the 6’8″ star. What’s special about the M7? How did you overcome an uneasy childhood to become a superstar? What advice do you have for the youth? Those questions and many more were answered and all in attendance left the Foot Locker House of Hoops feeling refreshed and ready to take on their next challenge. That’s exactly what Melo M7 embodies – the willingness to do whatever it takes to succeed at any level. Continue reading for a full event recap of Carmelo Anthony’s recent visit to New York and see for yourself.

Yesterday at the New Orleans Arena, Jordan Brand and Chris Paul official unveiled the fourth signature sneaker for Paul, the Jordan CP3.IV. This evolution of the Jordan CP3 franchise is inspired by the quickness of Chis Paul’s on-court performance and on a lighter note, Gundam a Japanese anime figure also played a part in the design of the CP3.IV. In designing for the quickness of Paul, Jordan Brand footwear designers developed an innovative midsole cushioning system called Podulon (pronounced PAHD-ju-lahn), which was featured in the previous JORDAN CP.3 III installment and now carried over to the CP3.IV. Yesterday, Nike held a Nike Football Summit at the iconic Dallas Cowboys stadium for the unveiling of the Nike Alpha Talon Cleat, termed as “Nike’s Most Advanced Cleat Ever” and the next generation of Nike Pro Combat uniforms for 2011 season. Some of the top collegiate teams including University of Oregon, Boise State University, and University of Florida are expected to wear as they take the field in this season’s upcoming Bowl Games. Nike also had NFL players Ndamukong Suh, Clay Matthews, Dwayne Bowe, Felix Jones and Steven Jackson at the stadium to help with the introduction.
On the uniform redesign, the base layer and uniform is the ultimate design in breathable protection with strategically placed seams, pads and cooling zones. Thermoregulation is emphasized with the use of Nike Pro Deflex padding, which has two-way airflow to help cool the body and wick away sweat. The jerseys are made of four-way stretch woven twill which sheds moisture. A new Flywire collar has eliminated two layers of fabric, allowing improved breathability and strengthen the fabric to keep the jersey intact. By enhancement of the crucial “hit zone”, which are between the knees and shoulders, Nike designers created a system of robust padding, all without the bulk. Another interesting aspect is that the base layer now features customizable protection, incorporating a thin, incredibly strong carbon fiber plate that comes in two different sizes and can be placed where needed.

Earlier today in Arlington Texas at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Nike unveiled the Zoom Alpha Talon Cleat, Nike Football’s most advance premium cleat ever. Leveraging the most innovative technologies and working with elite athletes Nike designers created the Zoom Alpha Talon Cleat to meet the performance needs of every position. The cleat also improved footing for full speed performance with an innovative on-demand, adaptive traction system. On the interior, the forefoot extend when full pressure is applied for more traction when needed and retract when not. The cleat is designed with a Flywire upper for a lightweight lockdown, a low-profile cushioning system for comfort and Nike Pro Deflex padding around the ankle for breathable protection. The Nike Zoom Alpha Talon Cleat is expected to debut on the Texas Christian University (TCU) team along with a new version of their current 2010 Nike Pro Combat Uniform in Pasadena, California, January 1, 2011.

Last night in London, Sneakerpedia held a launch party to celebrate what will become “The Greatest Sneaker Archiving Project.” A small group of the world’s top collectors were in attendance, who are also the first ‘founding’ members of Sneakerpedia, pre-populating the site with selections from their collection. The launch also brought out two people who are not only among the biggest sneaker personalities in the world, but also two of the best DJ’s in the game: Bobbito Garcia and DJ Clark Kent. For set one, Bobbito set down the tone for the night, for set two, each took turns playing records, and DJ Clark Kent closed the night off with a long set. To quote an attendee at the event, who best summed up the energy of the party: “DJ Clark Kent murdered London….” Some of London’s most serious sneaker enthusiasts were also in attendance, and entry to the event was also an invite into the beta club. But not to worry, we will have a number of invites for our Freshness fans. Stay tuned for that, and for now, check out the photos from the event last night.
