Nike 2012 2013 Brasil National Football Team Kits | Officially Unveiled

More than just a partnership, the Brazilian National Football Team and Nike share a common ethos of tenacity on or off the pitch. That bond is also evident in the latest Brasilian National Football Team kits for the 2012-2013 season. In reference to Jeitinho Brasileiro, or The Brasilian Way, a spirited motto which has made the Brazilian National Team the most successful in modern history of soccer, the new kits encompassed the Brazilian national colors of bright yellow, royal blue, hints of white and green.

For the home kit, its the Amarelinha, or Little Yellow One, a signature beloved by the team’s fans. Similar to the previous kits by , plenty of hidden accents meant to be inspirational statements for the players. Along on the inside of its green cuff, the jersey pronounced Nascido Para Jogar Futebol, or Born To Play Football, in the form of Pichacao, a graffiti born out Brazil’s inner cities. Another hidden addition is the Brazilian football federation crest designed by artist Don Torelly. Strategically printed on the inside back of each shirt as a show of support from the federation to its players.

Not limited to the graphic aspects, designers at Nike took the liberty to apply innovative construction on the kits as well. Lessen the company’s environmental footprint, each jersey is made from at least 96% recycled polyester while the shorts is 100%, a total equivalent to 13 recycled plastic bottles. A new double-knit construct means the new kits are 20% stronger than the previous editions. Yet, its still 23% lighter.

In addition to the new National Team Kits, there will be a complement of accessories, training gears, and products for fans available too. Look for the new Brasilian National Team kits at soccer specialty retailers near you in the coming weeks.

adidas Originals by Jeremy Scott – Spring/Summer 2012 Collection Lookbook | Part 2

If there was an ideal term for a general description, it would be rambunctious celebration. Again with a stroke of ostentation and bombast, Jeremy Scott continues his partnership with adidas Originals for Spring/Summer 2012. Unlike some of his past collections, there is actually a cohesiveness to the design theme for this upcoming collection. Cue in on the growing interest on Americana, Scott elaborated on American cultural icons with his signature abandonment of popular perceptions. Who said a cowboy can’t wear a pair of sneakers if he wants to? How about a sequin football jersey for Super Bowl weekend? Or a strait jacket in the colors of Stars and Strips? Rules of political correctness need not apply, outrageous mixed with a dosage of fun dictate each items, from the JS MEGA Softcell Cowboy Boots, the Fringed Track Jacket, to the nearly infamous American Flag Strait Jacket. Nothing is off limits. Then again, isn’t that the reason why fashion is fun?

The by Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 is available now with more additions to come in the following weeks.

David Choe Facebook Shares Value Around $200 Million

If you haven’t yet, mark yesterday on your calendar as the true start of social media dominance. After years of hearsay, Facebook finally filed its S1 registration with the Security & Exchange Commission (SEC).  The filling not only gets that much closer to its IPO on the stock exchange, it also gave people insights to company’s operations, ownerships, among other things. Already profitable, with a revenue of $3.71 billion in 2011, other interesting data bits include its average monthly active users (845 million), likes & comments per day (2.7 billion), and one of its largest income source (game maker Zynga). But the most surprising revelation was graffiti artist David Choe‘s relationship with the company.

According to The New York Times, Choe first got involved back in 2005 when then Facebook President Sean Parker (also of Napster fame) asked the artist to paint murals at its Palo Alto headquarter. When asked whether he wanted cash or stocks for the work, Choe smartly chosen stocks even when he thought Facebook would come to little success. The story is quite different 7 years later and if the initial valuation of the company is correct, at an estimation of $100 billion in market value, David Choe’s shares would be equivalent to $200 million dollars. Thus making him on par with as one of the richest artist alive today and certainly the richest graffiti artist around. But Choe would tell it differently. From his works with Facebook, he also struck up lifelong friendships. In a recent mural painting session, Choe even asked ZUCK ONE, better known as , Founder & CEO of Facebook, to contribute (see video after the jump) via: NYTimes
