Scion FR S 600hp Drift Car

Just last month, we posted a video of Ken Gushi drifting in the new Scion FR-S. Now, Scion Racing has unveiled their drift car in Detroit, which was built in partnership with GReddy, an aftermarket performance parts giant. The details on the specs are still scarce, yet we know that Gushi will be taking this vehicle into the 2012 Formula DRIFT series in the hopes of snatching up titles. All of the interior has been stripped off, apart from the bare essentials, and a welded roll cage strengthens the whole chassis. The large rear wing should create enough down force, and front canards will increase aerodynamics. It is estimated that this FR-S should be pushing around 600 horsepower, which should be more than enough for Gushi. Check out more detailed photos after the jump. via: autoblog

Acura NSX Concept | Possible Hybrid Super Car

You’re looking at the first Acura NSX to publicly hit U.S. soil since December 2005, when the last of its kind left ’s Suzuka facility and made its way to North American customers. This isn’t a complete surprise. Although has been hinting at a reversal since 2005, the NSX concept made an appearance on the set of the The Avengers and in front of select dealers and reporters in various stages of development. What we see today at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is truly a beautiful sight for die-hard NSX fans. Powered by a direct-injection VTEC V-6 engine that is paired with a Sport Hybrid all-wheel drive system, the NSX concept features both high-tech innovation and clean lines within an overall design that is on pace for its 2014 launch. Wrapped within a lightweight shell, two electric motors transfer power through a new bilateral adjustable torque control system that is able to regulate power to the wheels during turns and provide the type of acceleration expected of today’s supercars. While details have yet to be released on its overall efficiency, weight or power, Honda knows that on-lookers will continue to be distracted by the idea that they finally have a new NSX to look forward to.via: Autoblog

Volkswagen E Bugster Concept | Pure Electric Cuteness

The original sub-compact is coming back in a big way this year. Following a complete re-design and the introduction of the Turbo variant, the Volkswagen Beetle is going electric with the E-Bugster.

So far a mere concept vehicle in ’s ambitious Blue-e-motion line, the E-Bugster will house an electric motor capable of generating 114 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. Underneath its trunk and rear seats, a lithium-ion battery pushes the car to a range of 100 miles. And when a charge is in need, simply pop the VW logo on the hood and plug-in. Suitable for a 120V, a 240V, and a quick charge, 80% in 30 minutes, designers also “streamlined” the VW Beetle silhouette to a lower profile for greater efficiency. Plenty of LED usages on the its exterior lighting scheme, including a TRON-like blueish outline feature, the E-Bugster still has a hot rod/speedster flair with the chrome-out 20-inch wheels and drop-top.

No words on the exact production plan but with a fury of hybrid vehicles set to launch in the next few years and tougher emission rules in the U.S. and Europe, an off-shoot of the E-Bugster will most likely see the open roads in the next few years. Additional images via: Autoblog

Mercedes Benz Vito Modified Luxury Van | By VILNER

Its one thing to arrive in style, say in a Lamborghini Gallardo, but most would opt to arrive in both style and comfort, like the Mercedes-Benz Vito Modified Luxury Van. Created by the Bulgaria-base tuner VILNER, the modified Vito 120 CDI adds a level of sophistication and luxury to the otherwise lowly van. Appointed with Alcantara, Nappa leather, and plenty of genuine wood trims, the interior also includes a 19-inch LCD, a mini fridge, and a set of four automatically adjustable seats with leg rest. Because passenger comfort is in direct correspondence to the driver in front, also replaced the standard seating with ones from Mercedes CL-Class. Since Mercedes-Benz Vito is only available in Europe thus far, no words on availability this side of the Atlantic yet. But don’t surprise if a few eccentric millionaires import them on their own. via: Auto Evolution
