The long awaited collaboration between Supreme and Levi’s is finally available at Supreme retail locations in New York City, Los Angeles, and its online store. A timeline of Americana in physical context, the capsule collection highlights both the 100-plus years tradition of Levi’s and the more contemporary ones of Supreme. It also marks a conjunction between work wear and street style, like that of Levi’s 505 Selvedge Denim. Limited in availability, each item co-branded with both labels and unique accents. The collection will launch this Saturday in Japan and make its debut on September 22nd as part of Supreme London grand opening collection.

When James Jebbia founded Supreme in 1994, his intended target market were the kids who embodied downtown New York skate culture, but he never considered his brand to fall under the rubric of streetwear. Rather, Jebbia sees Supreme as a lifestyle brand that caters to discerning consumers in the know, along the lines of A.P.C. This is the sensibility that allows Supreme to partner with brands such as Adam Kimmel or Clarks. For its latest collaboration, Supreme turned to the venerable American denim label Levi’s. The U.S.-manufactured capsule collection is made up of 505 jeans, chambray work shirt, denim down vest and denim bell hat. All are available in blue or black and come with an orange Levi’s tag. The assortment is rounded out with a Trucker Jacket in black leather or tan suede.

Momentum is certainly building and increasing by the day. After a long hiatus, RECON, the NYC downtown original, is preparing for a brand re-launch. The label, officially known as RECON Brand, just took down its countdown webpage. In its place, a montage of daily updates as the official re-launch date nears. But the most interesting element on the work-in-progress website is the archival revisit of past RECON merchandises. Some quite rare including a beer glass etched with RECON barbs and the RECON x Stash Clark Originals Wallabee. More information to come, soon.

It is a bit inexplicable but there is something about printed matter and its tactile factor. Perhaps its the memory of the physical form, deeply embedded into one’s subconscious after centuries of usage by our ancestors. Or maybe its just the paper texture, the glossy ink, or other minute accents that heighten our sensory. Whatever it is, the need of printed matter isn’t disappearing completely any time soon. Hence the decision by online retailer MR PORTER to create its first free paper. Titled “The Mr Porter Post”, the paper is a condensed version of its online weekly periodical, The Journal, on paper. It highlights more than just fashion, but the knows-and-hows of any fashionable men (and the ladies who love them). While it is free, you’re certainly not going to find it at your nearby news stands due its limited circulation to MR PORTER shoppers and register users. via: Stylist

To call the new Carhartt WIP Collection Lookbook “hauntingly beautiful” might be an overly simplistic description. Created by German photographer/videographer Alexander Basile, who realized a textual imprint to his images with an unique creative process – video taping 5 hours of footage on VHS format before rendering each select scene into a still image. The outcome is one of tactile sensibility where the grainy attributes on each photo provide a place and time within the viewer’s memories. But one other curious characteristic is the feel of impairment, of a task at hand long from finish. Perhaps, its Basile’s way, subconsciously, in demonstrating the notion of WIP or Work In Progress. The Carhartt WIP Fall/Winter 2011 Collection is now available at Carhartt WIP retail locations and its own online store.

For fans of retailer UNIQLO living in New York City, the biggest gripe is the shortage of merchandise availabilities since there is only one single storefront serving a population of 8 million. However, remedy is on the way in the form of not one but two global flagship stores. After more than a year in planning, design, and construction, the popular Japanese retail chain will be opening two of its largest retail locations to date at New York City’s storied Fifth Avenue and another at the busy 34th Street. At 89,000 square feet, the UNIQLO on Fifth Avenue, officially designated as UNIQLO New York Fifth Avenue, will open to public on Friday, October 14th. Following on its heel, UNIQLO New York 34th Street, the retailer second largest storefront with 64,000 square feet, will open a week later on October 21st. In preparation for the deluge of visitors, UNIQLO also hired 1,100 new employees to shore up all 3 New York locations for the frantic holiday shopping season. Both are set not only to have the latest items UNIQLO’s Fall/Winter 2011 Collection, special in-store exclusives will be available at both locations as well.

You wouldn’t notice looking from the outside. But with each generation of new entries to the so-called street culture, the further it deviates from the true origin. In sensing the time is right, graffiti artist Stash is re-launching his iconic label RECON once again. To coincide with the countdown to its official debut, Stash enlisted helps from fellow graf legends FUTURA and Wane to paint up one street corner of New York City. In the video that documented the process, viewers will get a glimpse at the RECON Artist Series, including signature footwear from Stash and FUTURA…morsels of intrigue indeed.

With Hurricane Irene bearing straight towards New York City last Friday, many were dumbfounded when they saw the line in front of BAPE New York. Evident from past events, New Yorkers love great deals and would do virtually anything for them, even with a massive hurricane approaching. In fact, the queue became so long for the BAPE New York Pirate Store that management had to re-direct the gathered crowd to another direction during the sales event’s second phase. The store would’ve continue throughout the weekend too. Unfortunately with mass transit shut down and its vicinity near the flood zone, BAPE decided to postpone the Pirate Store event till this weekend. Of course, you can be sure there will be a line again.

With Primitive team rider Nate Principato as the headliner, Paul Rodriguez’s storefront Primitive just showcased some of the goods available for Fall 2011. While So-Cal weather hardly dips below zero, the collection still features a slew of heavy weight cotton sweats and hoodies for you to fend off those late night breeze from the Pacific. Another notable is Primitive’s version of the classic varsity jacket, now redone in lightweight cotton jersey instead of Melton Wool. Of course when you think of Primitive, you think of caps, and there are plenty of those this season as well. Check out the brief commercial on the Fall 2011 Collection as they followed Nate Principato for a day or you can see rest of the lookbook after the jump. In the meantime, select items from new season will be available at Primitive and other retailers in the coming weeks.

When NORT | RECON abruptly closed its door back in 2008, it left a void in the then vivacious street wear scene. 3 years and an economic downturn later, the said scene isn’t the same anymore, but so is the relevance of RECON. After its brief hiatus, RECON is making moves again, purportedly as a lifestyle/sportswear label with a collection of apparel, accessories, and footwear line. No official dates for its relaunch is set at the moment though the parties involved hinted at teaser videos to come quite soon. For now, the only trace of the label is its temporary website, www.survivaloftheillest.com, and the countdown clock to its day of resurrection. More information to come soon.
