Love him or hate him, there’s no denying fashion photographer Terry Richardson has carved a unique identity for himself, along with a level of name recognition that most photogs would kill for. His hard flash photography is quickly followed by his own self-styled image — toothy grin, thumbs-up sign, ubiquitous flannel shirt and oversized glasses — as defining trademarks, and his penchant for the leering, scandalous narrative hasn’t deterred any of the hordes of A-list celebrities from seeking his services. It’s a wonder, then, that it’s taken this long for Terry Richardson to stage his first solo exhibition in Los Angeles. Composed of over 25 of his most recent photos, TERRYWOOD is scheduled to open February 24th at OHWOW gallery. The installation represents the collision of Terryworld with Hollywood, wherein familiar Tinseltown tropes are recontextualized through Terry’s distinctive lens.

The age old saying of what quacks like a duck might not be a duck after all. Introducing the newest integrated football uniform system from Nike Football for University of Oregon Ducks as it returns to the Rose Bowl this New Year’s Day. Known as the most advanced system assembled as part of the Nike Pro Combat system, the new ensemble looks down right intimidating as an suit of armor. Bolder jersey numbers plus iridescent silhouettes in the likeness of mallard’s feathers highlight the uniform’s front and back. Wings of armor patten rest on each shoulder while a new LiquidMetal black finish gives the helmet a chrome-like mirror appearance.
But it isn’t just the look itself, each of the components represents the most innovative in both designs and materials. In all, eleven different materials are in the Nike Pro Combat uniform, or around sixteen in total from head to toes. A base layer provides optimal ventilation as well as lightweight protection like carbon fiber plates along the thigh paddings. Next, Nike Pro Combat Deflex padding system offers impact protection from hip to knee areas. Then there is the Nike Chain Maille Mesh, another new material which will improves temperature regulation. Finally, a Flywire collar for breathability and to keep the jersey in place.
This duck neither quacks nor walks. It screams and fly instead.

The title of this story should be “A Cautionary Tale of Never Say Never”. But when the central figure is artist Damien Hirst, somehow the definition of “never” is contorted. After sidelined his dealer and one of the most powerful gallerists, Larry Gagosian, when he dealt directly with Sotheby’s auction house back in 2008. The capricious Hirst also declared the end of his signature “spots” paintings. It turns out not to be the case. Come on January 12th, Hirst will take over all of Larry Gagosian‘s eleven galleries worldwide for an ego-tripping retrospective of his “spots” artwork.
