
Spend this evening in the company of friendly caricature as British illustrator James Jarvis (of Amos Toys fame) host an autograph event at The Standard New York. Part of an ongoing program at the trendsetting hotel organized by fellow artist KAWS and Picturebox, Jarvis will premiere a new narrative titled “De Profundis” tonight, the first such project in the last 5 years. Along with the book’s release, Jarvis also decorated the Standard Shop with his distinctive, whimsical creatures. As with artists like Julia Chiang, Anthony Lister, Andrew Kuo, Ryan McGinness, KAWS and Jeff Canhammural before him, Jarvis mural will be on display from today to December 8th. In the meantime, be sure to stop by The Standard tonight for a rare meeting with the artist himself.

In an attempt to honor the city that gave birth to Michael Jordan, Carmelo Anthony and Spike Lee, Jordan Brand is bringing a special challenge for New York. And who doesn’t like a little bit of a challenge? The Jordan Scavenger Hunt will be held from tomorrow, Friday, November 4th until Saturday, November 5th. Eight pairs of these signed commemorative box sets will be hidden and scattered throughout the city in eight secret locations. Inside the custom-made wooden box, a lucky scavenger hunter will find either the Jordan Melo M8′s or Jordan Spiz’ikes awaiting them. INSA will be partnering up with contemporary cycling wear brand Milltag for some limited edition bike jerseys. Milltag have produced twelve jersey designs featuring the 12 photographs from the Girls On Bikes series. Only three colorways of each version is made and accompanying each jersey is a signed postcard by INSA himself. All of the designs are scheduled for launching on Wednesday, November 9th prior to the official exhibition opening at Protein in London. Seven months have passed already since the tragic earthquake and tsunami that hit the Tohoku region of Japan on 3/11. Unfortunately, the catastrophic event have left many still homeless, all now are battling to rebuild their communities. At the same time, the region is fighting for some sort of normalcy after multiple failures at Fukushima nuclear power plant . In the hopes of bringing worldwide attention on the wounded country, Christie’s and Takashi Murakami, in conjunction with many generous artists, have initiated the Tohoku-Pacific Earthquake Benefit Auction, to be held on Wednesday, November, 9th at Christie’s New York.
Notable artists donating their impressive artworks include Takashi Murakami, KAWS, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Yoshitomo Nara, Zeng Fanzhi, Mark Grotjahn, Thomas Houseago, Friedrich Kunath, Mr., Gabriel Orozco, Anselm Reyle, Cindy Sherman, Aya Takano and Luc Tuymans. Simulated as an explosion’s fulcrum, splinter work of wooden panels darting from the inside out. But as you explore the visualized chaos’ innards, a surreal peace appears. The experience is indicative of Melo’s performance, a whirlwind of moves where any attempts by the opponents are futile, yet at the center of it all, an inner tranquility.Ahead of the Jordan Melo M8 launch tomorrow, the Jordan Brand x Carmelo Anthony – Flight Lab 159 is now open to public starting today. The familiar face of Kilroy will be making its way over to Tokyo, along with Eric Elms himself, who will be holding a solo exhibition at gallery space COMMON. The exhibition entitled Wish You Were Here is being supported by Stussy, as well as VANS OTW and Singha, and special limited edition t-shirts have been created to coincide with the launch of the exhibition. Opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, October 20th, with the t-shirts hitting Stussy Japan Chapters at the same time. The Runway Crew got together in San Francisco for the 2011 Nike Women’s Marathon. Led by stylist Samantha Jo Alonso, the girls took on various photo shoots prior to the big marathon event. Here is a behind-the-scenes look into the daily routine of the Runway Crew from shooting the new Nike Sportswear lookbook dipped in fresh gear, to customizing their own jackets at Lady Footlocker to hitting the runway at Cole Haan after party. Amidst all of those engagements, the team successfully completed the marathon as well. Full video of the Runway Crew can be seen after the jump.

Just last Saturday, October 15th, Trimble Racing and Nike Italy took to the streets of Milan for the 2nd annual Red Hook Criterium Milano. The event was separated into two parts, track cycling and running. This was an unsanctioned late night race in a short technical circuit set up in Bovisa area of Milan. For cyclists, track bikes were the only mandatory requirement, racing 18 laps of the loop to complete the competition. While on the other hand, runners were only required to race 5 laps. The short course measured 1.8km loop, consisting of eight corners and it challenged the abilities of both the riders and runners.
