The discontinued Vivitar Ultra Slim & Wide was originally introduced as a cheap point and shoot 35mm film camera for general use. It has since received a second life as a favorite among toy camera enthusiasts, who enjoy the vignette edges and lens flare in the photos that the camera’s 22mm lens produces. Four Corner Store has gotten their hands on 75 brand new Ultra Wide and Slims, and the online retailer has packaged the camera in a special handmade wooden box along with a roll of their C-41 black and white film. For photographers who crave the lo-fi feel of this throwback all-plastic camera, the Vivitar Ultra Slim and Wide is available for purchase now through Four Corner Store.

An alumni of KICKSTARTER, the eco-design firm Triangle Tree unveiled the prototype to its newest project, the iBamboo Urban. Though an exact replica of its iBamboo speaker for Apple iPhone & iPod, one which received multiple media mentions last year, the new iBamboo Urban is somewhat different in construct. Where as the iBamboo was made from a finished segment of a real bamboo, the iBamboo Urban is made entirely out of recycled plastic, shaped in bamboo form. The idea came about when eco-concisous fans of the original iBamboo asked Triangle Tree to create some in recycled plastic. To come with a simple carrying case, Triangle Tree is currently looking for appropriate manufacturers with hope to launch the iBamboo Urban sometime this year. Doubtful on how effective a low-tech bamboo could be in sound quality? See the video demonstration after the jump. via: GizMag

There are a lot of apps out there to make your Apple iPhone pictures look vintage, but there’s nothing else out there that makes your iPhone itself look as retro as the Gizmon iCA iPhone Case. Complete with two interchangeable lenses, this case turns your entire phone into an old-school camera with a functional shutter release button and space for a detachable tripod mount. The back of this super tough polycarbonate case leaves your screen open so you can view your shots and two holes on the side allow you to attach the strap of your choice. While the optical viewfinder works, the front center lens doesn’t, but Gizmon did provide a mount allowing you to use miniature fisheye or macro lens with the iPhone’s own camera. Check out more snaps of this case, which comes in black, brown, or white after the jump or at Four Corner Store online.

How is it that it’s 2012 and The Hundreds has never gotten together with Casio on a G-Shock release? OK that isn’t entirely true, the California based brand did team up with them and XLARGE back in 2008, but this is the first time they’re doing it without a third entity involved. The impending model of choice is the GW-5610, which aims for a very clean black and white base along with some logo hits around the wristband. Opting out of the yellow and orange parts from their Adam Bomb logo, the smart look is something more reminiscent of elegant aura that their retail spots have been built around. Follow us after the jump for an extra shot and stick with Freshness for word on a release date for The Hundreds x Casio G-Shock GW-5610. via Provider

The newly minted PENTAX RICOH Imaging added a new compact digital camera to its popular Optio collection, though with a very interesting feature. Quipped with a 16 megapixels image sensor, a 20x optical zoom lens, and a 3-inch LCD display, the new Optio VS20 is capable of capturing images at wide angle (28mm) to a speck in the distance (560mm). But what sets the Optio VS20 apart from the rest is its second vertical shutter-release button. A feature usually found on DSLR cameras, the Optio VS20 will certainly be the first among the crowded field of Point-&-Shoot. The addition will also help photographers with steady shots when involving vertically extended images. Available in black or white, the PENTAX Optio VS20 is set for launch in February 2012.
- 16 Megapixels CCD Image Sensor
- 28-560mm 20x Optical Zoom Lens
- 3-Inch LCD Display
