Cool kicks are great, but like every wonderful superhero out there, things are just better when you have the right sidekicks. Designed by DJ Clark Kent, the buzzed about and anticipated Nike Air Force 1 Low Supreme WBF “Five Boroughs” Pack (which will be dropping tomorrow with a banging block party at Nike Sportswear 21 Mercer) has garnered a few worthy sidekicks in the orthodox form of t-shirts and caps. Each t-shirt spells out the one of the five hoods the shoes are repping for, and both the fitted hats and the t-shirts feature matching colorways and type as the shoes (the words on t-shirts are modeled after the small logo on the heel of the kicks). Check out the entire package, and remember the importance of getting everything right.

By now, most should know that simplicity doesn’t equate to boring. However, being able to execute simplicity without inducing a drawn-out yawn is another story. adidas Originals has once again proven that keeping simple interesting is no feat for them with the new bright blue Samba Casual Leather. Sure, everything from the tongue to upper and three-stripes to laces and toe have been crafted in a sea of blues, but the intriguing touches come from the slightly translucent soles, embossed leather tongue tag, heel tab, and a mix of suede and leather for the rest of the shoes. Colorful yet with a touch of that retro-burnished look with leather and copper eyelets gives the classic Samba a sense of measured interest.via: Suelasdegoma

One cup Torison technology, one cup Soft Cell technology, pinches of neon bright shades and adidas Originals flavor to garnish– the adidas Originals MEGA Diner is exactly where you can hit up for a fresh-off-the-sneaker-grill. Paul Iacono is already a frequent at the diner, and gotten his hands on the biggest, baddest, freshest thing there is, served up by none other than B.o.B. Well, don’t go searching for it on Yelp! yet, the adidas Originals MEGA Diner 2010 is just another winningly fun and creative marketing effort for the new adidas Originals MEGA Collection.

Mark your calendars now. The Air Jordan XI (11) Space Jam released to riots and mayhem when the limited supplies ran out. While the Space Jam holds a place in sneaker lore all its own, the Air Jordan XI (11) Retro in Cool Grey may approach the same level of mania when it drops this holiday season. This was an off-colorway, meaning that Jordan never wore it on the court, but the Air Jordan line’s retros have a history of smooth releases in grey, and this model may be the most famous of them. The icy soles have a tint of blue, which appears to be a new permutation on the model which plays off the tonal greys in the upper. These photos are from the grade school (GS) models, so keep checking Freshness for photos of the adult size models coming soon. via MacqueeSole

There are quite a few contenders in the luxury sneaker market right now, since the uptown crowd saw the need to integrate and expand themselves into a new clique– the downtown clique who are indispensable in trendsetting and taste making. Lanvin, Dior Homme, Gucci are just a few of the famed luxury houses who have successfully brought a luxurious touch to the urban footwear staple. Of course, French fashion house, YSL, is not one to miss out on the game, and has been purveying great high-top sneakers for a while now as well, with its very own core loyal followers. For Fall/Winter 2010, YSL has created a video to showcase its capsule collection of sneakers are have departed slightly from previous high octane and glossy numbers “postmarked” with the YSL logo, and became slightly more muted in monochromes, neutrals and tonal mesh-up of materials. Check the classic high-top silhouette and chukkah-inspired numbers. These are meant to be worn with the hip downtown insouciance, where your clothes and accessories don’t define who you are, but are just utilitarian means of getting around. via: Juncture.

Originally introduced in the early 70’s, the Pro-Keds Royal was a classic basketball sneaker that was loved by the players and also the pioneers of the NYC street culture. The new Royal Plus Leather combines the old basketball heritage with clean, sophisticated aesthetics in a Lo and Hi style. The Hi top features Black and Smoke leather uppers while the Lo’s are made with Navy and Toffee leathers. New to this model is the hexagonal metal eyelets that provide a hint of improvement to the classic sneaker. The tongue has also been padded and elongated along side the leather inner lining to ensure unmatched comfort.

VANS Vault compiled the Inca Flower Pack that consist of three unique Sk8-Hi LX models. What catches the eye is the unusual yet balanced color scheme which creates a distinct look for each sneaker. Originally slated for August 1st, a few reputable retail doors have already received the much talked about Air Jordan 2010 Outdoor (also known as Air Jordan 2010 Outdoor Playground in some circle). In many aspects, the Air Jordan 2010 Outdoor is one, if not the most, definitive sneaker in relation to Michael Jordan’s career. The seemingly redundant 6-row stitch work on forefoot and heel serves as reinforcement and a representation of Jordan’s 6 NBA Championship titles. The script-like etching around the midsole tells of MJ passion of the game. As the name stated, the Air Jordan 2010 Outdoor is made to last. The armor-like toe cap in addition to the solid rubber outsole will endure any punishments on or off the court. Mammoth mid-foot cross straps, in very fitting reptilian pattern, means a snug fit anytime, all the time. Still, all these appointments do not equate to weight. A fore-foot Zoom Air provides lightweight cushioning while Air-Sole unit at the heel gives the ultimate shock absorption. Plus a contoured Phylon midsole to reduce the weight further. Look for the Air Jordan 2010 Outdoor at your local Jordan Brand retailers or reserve a pair for the August 1st launch.

First in suede, now Jordan L’Style II undergoes a makeover in patent leather. Streamlined and subtle, the silhouette lives up to its name. Still, being that it is from the Jordan Brand franchise, expect certain performance appointments such as forefoot overlay, ankle strap, and Air Sole unit at the heel. Otherwise, Jordan L’Style II could pass as a casual footwear. Now available at NikeStore.com

Where do clothes go after one moves beyond a trend, outgrown its practicality, or after a disastrous wardrobe malfunction? Most certainly end up in thrift shops or a dumpster close by. But some fortunate pieces are rescue from this indignity by vintage purveyors like Brian Procell and Alex James , who scoured troves of unwanted and deadstock for premium items from Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike, Starter, MCM and more. Come in August, Procell and James will open their archives to the public for one of the kind sale at Reed Space’s Reed Annex store front. The 3-day only event will see some of the best vintage pieces, even one of the kind original designs. But mark your calendar and stop by early because when these items are gone, they are “really” gone.

The Pro-Keds Super aka 69er was the first classic sneaker for New Yorkers on and off the court. These were also known as the original Uptowns with heads in Harlem and the Bronx. Undoubtedly these gained popularity on the basketball court and also had much love from the streets with hip hop pioneers donning the kicks. There are two colorways produced for each Lo and Hi styles made with ripstop material on the uppers. Brand new 69er tongue tag is color coded as with the ankle rubber patch on the Hi’s. Old school 10mm cotton laces and gold lace holes finish off the classic sneakers.

The two twenty something rappers both attended the concert and party wearing a pair of Air Jordan Retro sneakers. J.Cole rocked a pair of the Air Jordan VII Olympic’s that are coming back out again shortly only with a “For the Love of the Game” embellishment on the heel in Gold. Wale on the other hand wore a pair of Air Jordan III in the True Blue colorway that was re-releeased last year in select countries outside of the US.
