While the plot of the 2004 movie Alien vs. Predator didn’t hit all the right chords with those who liked each individually, at least we can all agree on the fact that the custom made Alien vs. Predator Chess Set created by deviantArt member Joker-Laugh is pretty amazing. The board is 25″ x 25″ and is constructed of both wood and small stone tiles designed to look like the pyramid temple used by the Predators. The pieces on both sides are easy to keep in order as the game progresses with, on the Predator side, cloaked and visible pawns each with their own skull collections and, on the Alien side, the Alien queen and eggs at various stages of development, including a few facehuggers. After taking more looks at this one-of-a-kind set after the jump, you can’t deny that the hours of meticulous work put in by Joker-Laugh easily tops other theme sets out there. via: MAKE

Bet you also did a double-take at that picture, didn’t you? Even if you get an eery feeling from this latest In Icons creation of the late co-founder 0f Apple, you have to admit that this is definitely one realistic Steve Jobs action figure. From the bottom of the New Balance sneakers to the iconic steel-rimmed glasses, the figurine measures 12 inches tall (or a 1:6 scale) and is decked out in his signature take on CEO attire. Set to release in February, the Jobs action figure comes with a change of socks, a chair, a “One More Thing” backdrop, and two apples — one with a bite — allowing you to have a front row seat to your own recreation of his most memorable productions.
Check out more ‘action’ photos of the Steve Jobs figurine after the jump. Just be prepared to rub your eyes a few times in disbelief.

As the “Official Sneaker Cleaner of Sneaker Con Los Angeles”, cleanser mixologist Jason Markk had the privilege to capture some behind-the-scene look at the first ever Sneaker Con Los Angeles. Unfortunately, he got to the Los Angeles Convention Center late last Saturday. Luckily, he was still able to capture some of the sights and sounds from the inaugural event. And while the reception was not as hectic as the one in New York City two weekends ago, there was still plenty of dealings going on. In fact, Markk nearly sold out his inventory by the day’s end.

Fashionistas in Tokyo will have something to rejoice about come this March. Dover Street Market, the hugely popular retail concept by fashion designer Rei Kawakubo and her advent-garde label COMME des GARÇONS, is finally coming to Tokyo. Surprising, the new store will not be at the expected shopping district along the eastern part of Tokyo, where you have familiar neighborhoods like Shinjuku, Shibuya, Omotesando, Aoyama, and Harajuku. Instead, COMME des GARÇONS will take advantage of the newly revamped Ginza Komatsu Department Store in Ginza on the western side of the city. Taking up approximately 6 floors of the West Wing, the new store be in good company with the world’s largest UNIQLO flagship right next door. And like its mammoth neighbor, Dover Street Market Ginza is also set to open on March 16th, 2012.

With the festive season in full swing, CLOT has partnered with MEDICOM TOY again to launch two new BE@RBRICK figures. As far as the design is concerned, it is the same as the previously released 100% and 400%, Pineapple and Melon styles. What makes these attractive for BE@RBRICK fans is its sheer size. Finally for this evening, last but not least, is the Nike Zoom KD IV “Nerf“. With only a handful, quite literally, of retailers to offer them tomorrow morning, these colorful renditions of childhood favorites will be among the most difficult, as well as the most sought after, sneakers this year. Line-ups already appeared in some places even though temperature is dipping close to the freezing point along the mid and eastern part of U.S. Such are the devotions of sneaker heads. And if you just realize they are launching in just a few hours, we have already tabulated a retail listing for your convenience. Best of luck to all.

“…more than anything, UNKNWN is a modern educational platform…”
Just ahead of its highly anticipated opening, netizens get the opportunity to see (and hear) the story behind UNKNWN courtesy of Creative Control. A retail effort by Samantha Jo Alonso, Chris Julian, both of FRUITION Las Vegas fame, and last and least the man himself, LeBron James, UNKNWN is more than just a retail destination. As told by Julian, the new storefront is essentially a catalyst of “edgy positivity”, an interpretation on fashion, art, design, trends, and more… A way to return to the original intent of consumerism, to own and appreciate something of value. In the meantime, you can visit the new store in person this weekend at Aventura Mall just outside of Miami, Florida.
