Amongst the limited edition BE@RBRICK figures from MEDICOM TOY, the model that attracts much attention from collectors is the Chogokin versions. The metal BE@RBRICK is not only limited in numbers but so far there have only been 9 designs released under this super exclusive series. Pirates of the Caribbean collaboration marks the 9th figure in the series and it features the cursed Jack Sparrow print over the shiny body. At this point, there are no confirmation on how many will be made but these look to be available at the MEDICOM TOY 15th Anniversary Exhibition in Tokyo and Project 1/6 online store.

MEDICOM TOY is celebrating their 15th birthday and rather than receive gifts, they have made a special 1000% BE@RBRICK. Instead of a simple BE@BRICK, they have opted for the My First BE@RBRICK B@BY platform. This means the body is transparent and it is filled with tricolor balls in the MEDICOM TOY brand colors, red, blue and yellow. Rest of the figure is left plain in white and the back of the figure is printed with a number 15 signifying the anniversary. These are currently available at Project 1/6 online store in Japan, however they are not shipping overseas, which means it’s time to get in touch with your Japanese friends.

Collectors of Medicom Toy BE@RBRICKS will want to start saving immediately for this one: the BE@RBRICK Horizon 400%, finished by hand and made from Karimoku, a Japanese furniture maker that specializes in wood. Seemingly constructed with layer upon layer of different types of wood, this unique piece should be coveted by Medicom Toy connoisseurs. The special edition BE@RBRICK will drop on July 30th. via: toybeast

Nobody can deny the popularity of NARUTO and NARUTO Shippuden cartoon series. This manga/anime franchise by Masashi Kishimoto is truly a force to reckon with. Broadcast currently in over 90 countries, not to mention all the pirated downloads on Internet and the 100+ million copies of printed matters sold, it is probably one of the most successful cross over from Japan to the world. And in a true pop culture fashion, the Fox Demon himself is now a BE@RBRICK figure in 100% and 400% versions by MEDICOM TOY. Comes as a single piece or as a set, this collaboration was made exclusively for Brasyna JAPAN and to be sold only on its website. With “Google-Jutsu” and some digging around the Internet, we’re pretty sure fans will find them to be available soon elsewhere.

In celebrating the 90th anniversary of Gucci, its Japanese operation invited 90 creatives from Japan and around the world to explain their first encounter with Gucci and its products. As part of the campaign Tatsuhiko Akashi from MEDICOM TOY was among the 90 selected and his response to the brief is rather unique. Interestingly Akashi went one step further by producing a one of Gucci BE@RBRICK in 400% size. Sadly there are no information on the release but fans can only hope for the good news. The all black figure is detailed with the famous gold double G logo on the stomach and Gucci logo on the face.

In the traditions of The Beatles and The Monkees, the trio of Mike D, MCA, and Ad-Rock, also known as Beastie Boys, are on the run. Though not from a hoard of desirous female fans but a legion of shadowy soldiers for hire. Fortunately for the hip-hop pioneers, they have a guardian angel in the form of Santigold… In this low budget fun fest by director Spike Jonze, Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win is a music video with a series of chase sequences, gun battles, blood and gore, all done in the forms of G.I. Joes action figures. In consonant with Seth Green’s “Robot Chicken“, Jonze’s video pushes to the extremes without actually doing them. From Beastie Boys’s new album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, music video “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win” featuring Santigold is now on view right after the jump…

They come in different colors, with stripes, dots, stripes, length and odd shapes. This week, Swedish sensation Happy Socks has one more trait to claim, its very own BE@RBRICK. Outlandishly fun to wear yet discreet by nature, so beloved were these wild hosieries that BE@RBRICK maker MEDICOM TOY CO. approached Happy Socks with a collaborative project. Nearly a year later, Happy Sock delivered its own version of the popular toy – a tattooed, mustachioed figure with a love of hot dogs and soda. Odd theme but perhaps this is where our Swedish friends get their inspirations from. Comes with a matching set of Happy Socks, the Happy Socks x BE@RBRICK Pack is now available at select Happy Socks retailer, like SIX FEET DOWN of Caliroots and the pack’s very own microsite.

Eerily jovial, artist Ron English’s MC SUPERSIZED figurine is almost the stuff of childhood nightmares if it wasn’t for its social commentary on the fast food addiction and excess lifestyle ingrained in today’s society. After its initial success as a doppelganger to McDonald’s Ronald McDonald mascot, Tokyo’s SECRET BASE churned out new variants of MC SUPERSIZED including this most recent one with apparel label WHIZ Limtied. In WHIZ’s colorway of predominately red and white, this limited edition figure comes with its very WHIZ bandanna. Only 20 units were made, available now at WHIZ’s LUMP online store at ZOZOTOWN shopping network.

The beauty in Nike‘s “Just Do It” statement is its simplicity. 3 words that in different contexts alternates from a forceful command to a uncomplicated question, making it one of the most celebrated marketing motto. In the same essence, Nike wants to highlight those who answered the call. Instead of “Just Do It”, these athletes accomplished the impossible and forever secured a place in annal of human spirit. In other words, they went ahead and “Just Done It”.
Unveiled early this morning at Nike Hong Kong‘s Just Do It media summit, The Field House is a temporary exhibition hosted by the brand with a Swoosh this summer. At heart of the exhibit is “Just Done It”, the centerpiece of the exhibition done by toy designer Michael Lau. Homage to Eric Catona, Steve Prefontaine, Lance Armstrong, and last but not least, Michael Jordan, Lau creatively rendered each athletes’ achievements in different mediums, from ink on wood work done with ball point pens to the 5-meter tall sculpture, La Main Gauche De Dieu, or Left Hand of God.
The exhibition also include works from KAON and an interactive display where visitors can blow on a whistle to stop a recorded soccer game at mid play. To found out more and take part of the festivities, just visit Nike: The Field House at Kowloon’s Secure House event space.
