Most graffiti artists do not thoroughly explore the world of paint formula and chemical technicalities as you have.  How did you get involved with such a refined area of the graffiti field?

Painting kicks and painting graff on walls are two totally separate things. With graff, we just use the paint right out of the can. We don’t really need to prepare the wall, and we don’t need to mix up colors. We just walk up to the wall and, boom! It’s like a thief in the night! But with kicks it doesn’t work like that, especially with the airbrush involved. The shoes need to be prepared with chemicals, and I have to make sure the paints have the proper viscosity to go through the gun; it can’t be too liquidy, and it can’t be too thick. If I make a mistake I have to go through a whole process to fix it. It takes serious time just to paint one pair.
