Since you have not been formally schooled with respect to your artistic ability, do you think that allows you to be free of the formalities most other artists pick up from organized art schooling? Or is there some aspect of your art that school/formal teaching may help?

First of all, I have a lot of beef with academia and its stance on graffiti. Most of these institutions feel like graffiti is just simply not art. They don’t understand it, and they don’t understand the people doing it; therefore, they tend to turn young people away who identify with it and use it as a means of expression. I’ve experienced this myself countless times and I know a lot of other graffiti artists have as well. What graffiti artists need to do is remind ourselves that our art form is ahead of its time;
