A company formed in 2000 from a partnership between 2 Harajuku veteran designers, Atsushi Horiki and Hiroaki Shitano. (Hence the name “LUMP”) The company established 2 brands, Rebirth and Whiz, which focus on different aspects of urban street fashion. In the 5 years since LUMP’s inception, the company has enjoyed a large following among Japanese youth.

In 2002, LUMP opened a store in the heart of Harajuku. The store, located on the second floor of a nondescript building, can be recognize by its window display - akin to a temporary structure made of driftwood, stacked hap-hazardously. The interior has a un- constructed feel to it too, with a layout divided in half by a series of chain-linked fences, with Rebirth merchandise on one side, Whiz on the other.
