Loopwheeler - Interview with Satoshi Suzuki
Produced by: Dan Hwang | Interview and Written by: Kullen Ozaki

It is unassuming, a camouflage as you will that blended it in with its urban landscape. Surrounded by residential low-rises and design studios, it was on the edge of the trusted Tokyo atlas we had. Then, a silent revelation in our minds that maybe this journey was like a pilgrimage of sort or maybe a discovery of some kind.

It all rooted from our curiosity of a few minimal entries on Internet chat rooms.  Couldn’t recall the whole conversation except key phrases: “feel like cashmere”, “finest cotton hoodie ever”, “best kept secret by Tokyonites”, and then an unfamiliar vocabulary “Loopwheeler”. Now, fast-forward 4 years from the moment when we read that chat room scribble.  Passed its collaborations with Selfridges & Co., Colette, Jack Spade, and more recently, Nike.  We are on our way to the destination of this journey,  a sub-terrain storefront on the edge of Harajuku, a shop where instead of a mannequin, an insect-like Loopwheeler mockup paced like clock work as the centerpiece, and talk with the man behind the label Loopwheeler, Satoshi Suzuki
