Nike has successfully reinterpreted some of their classic models in the last few years by updating well-known silhouettes with high-tech materials. In this updated Air Maxim 1+, the lightweight, breathable torch material is employed on the collar and toe portions, while the durable flywire adorns the midfoot. Last year, we got the chance to see this model in the original blue and red colorways, and we can see that on this model the material above the midfoot is soft, and it replaces the suede of the older molds. This simple and direct styling is a indicative of the strides Nike’s has made to preserve their heritage and stay on top of the performance elements as well. These are available now at Mita Sneakers, and will be at Nike Sportswear retailers soon.

We have previously given a sneak preview on the New Balance x WHIZ Limited x mita sneakers special collaborative model and now it is finally available for purchase. However this particular model is already sold out at the WHIZ online store so you may need to look at other retailers or resellers and do a little digging.
The base sneaker used for this project is the mita sneaker developed MT576 which integrates the MT580 sole on the M576 upper. Key feature of the sneaker is the star shaped ventilation holes on the toe box and WHIZ’s trademark colorway which is navy, gray and red with a hint of white. Clever use of textural materials are also great plus for the aesthetics of the sneaker as smooth leather, crocodile skin and suede are used.

French magazine, Clark Magazine, had recently conducted an interview with Supreme’s marketing director, Angelo Baque. Baque started out on the scene working at Stussy store in New York City when he was 21, and subsequently moved on to helping his friend open up Nom de Guerre and became the buyer/manager, before he moved on to Supreme heeding the invitation of James Jebbia (whom Baque worked for when he was at Stussy). Baque and Clark Magazine chatted about everything from Supreme’s design and product direction to how Supreme started and what kids should do now that Supreme will no longer be carried in colette. Check out the interview translated by FRESHNGOOD, and learn a little bit more about the label which has brought us some of the most surprising collaborations (Thom Browne, anyone?)! via: FRESHNGOOD

Connected by its French founders, electro label Ed Banger Records worked together with sneaker brand Etnies to release a collab sneaker, cheekily named “Ednies”. Ed Banger Records is responsible for launching artists such as Justice, Uffie and Mr. Oizo, and it has been shaping the electro scene in Paris and around the world.
Only 300 pairs of the Ednies sneakers are only available worldwide, and it features the trademark Ed Banger Records style, which is characterized by the illustration and graphics done by in house artist, So Me. The cup sole sneaker is shaped slim and kept clean in white and black colorways. On the tongue is a custom Ednies logo designed by So Me, and inner sole is detailed with a full illustration by So Me as well.

Embodied more than just design talents, GAP’s creative director Patrick Robinson demonstrated a certain brinkmanship since joining the company in 2007. Back then, GAP, the former mighty apparel giant built in part by Mickey Drexler, now CEO of rival J.Crew, was in disarray. It was no longer relevant in the eyes of its core customers, who found retailers such as American Eagle and Abercrombie & Fitch as more attractive alternatives. Armed with that knowledge and an underdog mentality, Robinson and his design team redefined what GAP was about, one category at the time.
Through the successful 1969 Premium Denim campaign and other previous efforts, Robinson was able resuscitate the languished label back to health. However, the task is far from over for the alum from Armani and Perry Ellis. Building upon the denim collection’s success, Robinson will once again lend his reinterpretation, this time to the American workwear.

Mother’s day is just around the corner and some of the last minute shoppers might be interested to know that MEDICOM TOY have dropped a special Mother’s Day inspired BE@RBRICK in 100% size. It is simply a white body that has been covered randomly by bright red carnation flowers with green stems. The floral prints is pretty and not at all overbearing, and the back of the figure reads “Send all my love and thanks to you” — a message to all the mothers out there. The 100% size is perfect for attaching to key rings or to be used as an ornament.

Japanese bicycle inspired fashion brand Nari/Furi have teamed up with Fred Perry on several models of the latter’s iconic Polo Shirts. The basic polo shirt silhouette has been modified to work for cyclists, but are appropriate both on bike and off.
While the top half of the polo shirt is unchanged, what has been modified is the bottom portion of the shirt. Most notable is the small back pocket on the left bottom of the shirt featuring ribs matching the collar ans sleeves. It is a handy little compartment to store loose change or mobile electronic devices. Another small improvement is an elongated rear hem which helps to cover the body in riding position, because the conventional shirt might be too short. via: Blue Lug

The Vinyl Dot graphic pattern was introduced as a part of the APPLEBUM 2010 Spring/Summer collection with various outerwear pieces that featured this custom designed textile. What seems to be a simple all over print of colorful dots, transform into a series of classic hip-hop vinyl records upon closer inspection. Now, this synesthetic custom designed textile has been used on a basic backpack design, printed on a polyester upper that is both water resistant and durable, thus handy for both city and outdoor use. Established by actor Nakamura Riyuu, the apparel label MAGIC NUMBER is an ideal integration between his 2 loves – surfing and fashion. To extend this design concept further, the label recently partnered with Levi’s Japan in creating a limited collection. Centered around denim aficionados and the surf/skate cultures, the MAGIC NUMBER x Levi’s Japan Collection includes some of the most incomparable details. One such is the MN505 denim, a new variation of the venerable Levi’s 505 denim. Composed in black rigid denim, the MN505 denim is dressed in contrast white and orange stitch works. Partly lined alone the interior and pocket works, soft cotton lining in MAGIC NUMBER’s trademark emergency orange colorway. In addition, specially marked leather patch also in orange. However, the most unique element is the copper button tab approximately at 3/4 length of the right leg. This permits the wearer to roll up the right leg cuff higher, making clearance for skaters to push off on their skate decks. A intricate addition any skaters would appreciate.
The MAGIC NUMBER x Levi’s Japan MN505 Denim Rigid Wash is available only thorough Levi’s Japan online store at e-levi.jp and its CINCH TOKYO boutique in Omotesando neighborhood of Tokyo.
