There is something about people who wear white sneakers. Because white sneakers are irrevocably simple, sophisticated, yet rather difficult to maintain and wear (every little scuff suffered is more obvious than on other colors), those who do rock a good pair of clean kicks seem to convey a sense of style, and purpose even though they might live in t-shirt and jeans. Situated right at a “cultural crossroad” between Chinatown and Lower East Side, Sara D. Roosevelt Park (named after the mother of President Franklin D. Roosevelt) is also the home of Chinatown Soccer Club (CSC), the ragtag band of brothers stemmed from the creative field, be it artist, photographer, graphic designer, and so on. However all share 1 passion: soccer.

In celebration of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, the club created a special edition accessory with Incase, which is set to debut next Wednesday, April 28th, in New York City.  In the meantime, the members of CSC created a brief video to let folks familiarize what they are about…

The upcoming BAPE CAMOCOLLAGE 2010 Exhibition will be the second exhibition to be held at the BAPE Gallery first debuted in March at BAPEXCLUSIVE Kyoto. The gallery space will be hosting a series of BAPE’s iconic Camo prints on canvas in various colors (blue, red and green) and sizes, inviting viewers to enter the world of BAPE, see the world through BAPE’s point of view, and also get a deeper visual connection with BAPE. The exhibition will be running from April 30 to May 16, and a special BAPE CAMOCOLLAGE T-Shirt has been created in conjunction with the exhibition. UNDFTD Tokyo is celebrating it’s third anniversary this year and to coincide with the special occasion the store has collaborated with MEDICOM TOY on a special 3 Year Anniversary 100% Be@rbrick. Taking on the same colorway as the notorious UNDFTD Air Jordan IV’s in Military Green, this Be@rbrick comes in a soft felt material with the UNDFTD “Strikes” logo on the front and a stenciled “3″ on the back. Talk about the reversal of fortune, perhaps the biggest blunder in his life thus far, Gray Powell, the Apple software engineer who lost the coveted iPhone prototype at a German beer garden is getting plenty of support these days since he was “outted” by gadget blog GIZMODO.  The latest of which comes from Lufthansa Airlines, the national carrier of Germany. In an open letter posted on Twitter this morning, Nicola C. Lange, Lufthansa’s Director of Marketing and Customer Relations, sympathized Powell for his “lost”, credited his love of German beer, and best of all, a free trip to Munich for some local brews.  No words yet on whether Powell accepted the offer.

Not just the most highly anticipated and buzzed about, but definitely living up to the expectations with a gloriously happy rainbow weave, the Nike Lunar Chukkah Woven+ QS “Rainbow” is finally hitting stores. Set to drop at California’s Bow & Arrows this Saturday, the Nike Lunar Chukkah Woven+ QS is about to blaze through the summer tracks and keep runners’ feet quite elated. The creation of a book is never an easy undertaking.  However, include 16-year of archival documents and the task becomes almost impossible.  A reason why West and James Jebbia of Supreme sought the assistance of Allen AKA (12oz PROPHET) for the Supreme book project.  Shot at the spacious 12oz PROPHET’s photo studio in downtown New York, Allen, along with Yuri Shibuya and Jamil GS, painstakingly put together the hundreds of imagery for the 304-page tome.  For those who are interested, there are 2 variants of the book: a limited, extensive coverage edition available at Supreme retail locations now and a general release version set to due out on Amazon.com next Tuesday, April 27th.

The focus on the sleek and modern silhouette of the Air Jordan IX (9) Retro is a welcome sign to Jordan fans this year. We’ve shown you the Carolina Blue, “Premio,” Black/Citrus, and Anniversary editions, and now the we have some shots of the White/Citrus model. Patent leather is employed on the upper, while citrus hits are prominent on the heel “23 embroidery,” the heel logo, and the Jumpman logo on the heel. The tongue also employs a citrus logo and the laces are certainly unique, as they feature the Jordan logo throughout, almost like elastic laces on Nike’s ACG models. New York-base apparel outfit TWON just launched their collection for 2010 Spring. Unashamedly brash and in true tradition of what New Yorkers are really about, the design team revisited the “original mean streets”, the Five Points slum, and those who ruled in that era of lawlessness – The Bowery Boys and The Dead Rabbits. Popularized by urban myth and the movie Gangs of New York, the gangs themselves were more than just a criminal entity, but an interwoven portion of society.

Fast forward to the 20th century; TWON followed the rising influence of La Cosa Nostra with its mafia theme t-shirt. Known as the “Five Families” – Lucchese, Genovese, Gambino, Colombo, Bonanno, while emphasizing Omerta, or code of silence, and the blood oath to their Catholic faith, the Italian mafia picked up where the Bowery Boys and Dead Rabbits left off, dominated the New York underworld well into this century. In the late noughties, a group of young skateboarders, driven by their love of the sport and DIY attitude teamed up and shot a home-made documentary about their friends, lives, family, and of course, skateboarding. The documentary, “Dirty Money“, is about a generation of skateboarders who revolutionized urban culture in Brazil through skateboarding, during a time after a government economic plan broke the industry and skateboarding scene. “Dirty Money” was became an instant hit in Brazil and among skateboarders, but it has been long overdue on an official theatrical release. Nike SB had just previewed the film yesterday at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre, and to celebrate the film release, Nike SB had also created two collaborative shoes.

And “On To The Next One” for the irreverent and playful French label, Hype Means Nothing, the next celebrities getting the glasses treatment are none other than Hip-Hop’s heavy weight, Jay-Z, and “The Best Rapper Alive”, Lil’ Wayne. The new celebrity duo are joining other celebrities who have already been modified by Hype Means Nothing such as Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, the late Charlie Chaplin, Brad Pitt, Britney Spears, Homer Simpson and more. Seems like eventually Hype Means Nothing will have a tee for every fan out there, so hang in there if you are still awaiting you favorite pop-culture icon to pop up with glasses. For those of you who have been following the SB line this year, you probably noticed that there is a return to a focus on simplicity, which this Dunk High embodies. Done up in the traditional varsity-styled colorblocking in smooth and perforated purple leather, this model also features thick black suede. This could have easily fit in to the SB line years back, and now with other traditionally-styled models like the Iron Man and the “Yellow Curb” editions, it looks like Nike SB is moving away from overly busy patterns and super bright colors.
