Brand Jordan continues it’s 25th Anniversary Celebration this year with the release of various Silver Anniversary Air Jordan sneakers including one of the most coveted, the all White Air Jordan XI (11) Retro, which was released this past weekend at select Jordan Brand retailers across the United States. 25 lucky people were fortunate enough to receive a special pair that contains an embroidered Jumpman on the heel as well as a commemorative patch underneath the sole of the right shoe. 25 of these pairs were put into circulation with the rest of the Air Jordan XI’s. After months of waiting and debate, the Air Jordan XI Silver Anniversary sneakers will finally be released today, Saturday, May 1st at select Jordan Brand retailers in the US. The all White Air Jordan XI features a White mesh and patent leather upper with an Ice outsole and no Jumpman logo around the ankle which has been a signature detail of the Jordan XI. Designed by none other than Tinker Hatfield, it was the very first AJ to include the visible air unit at its heel. In addition, the first to be adorned with elephant skin pattern (after a request by MJ himself) and the one where the long Jordan associated Jumpman icon made its debut. However, the 3 will be forever ingrained in our minds with Mars Blackmon, an alter ego created by the then unknown Spike Lee for a Nike TV spot. In its year-long commemoration celebrating the franchise 25th anniversary, Jordan Brand, along with Nike, will honor 3 different colleges for their roles in the history of basketball. In part because they uphold the tradition of the game plus their propagation of the sport, Jordan Brand select Georgetown Hoyas, Cal Golden Bears, and Michael Jordan’s alma mater, University of North Carolina (UNC) Tarheels, to receive the franchise’s Silver Anniversary Collection.  Given to each player on the respected college’s basketball squad will be a pair of Air Jordan 2010 Silver Anniversary Edition.  In addition, a specially designed team outfits, bearing the college’s insignia along with the Jordan Brand Silver Anniversary theme, will giving to each player as well.  Each college pack will make its debut on the following game days right before the crucial March Madness:

• February 24th (Wednesday) – UNC vs Florida State
• February 25th (Thursday) – Cal vs Arizona
• February 27th (Saturday) -  Georgetown vs Notre Dame
