As part of its artistically driven series of products for Pendleton Woolen Mills, Curated by Arkitip presents a made-in-U.S.A. wool blanket featuring artwork by Parra. The celebrated Amsterdam-based artist is known for his signature cartoonlike style that blends bright colors with bold, hand drawn lines, all of which are featured in the rocket illustration that adorns the 64 x 90-inch wool blanket. Custom Arkitip and Parra labeling denote the special limited-edition collaboration. The Parra for Pendleton Woolen Mills blanket is available now through the Curated by Arkitip online store.

Arkitip and Michael Leon go way back, as they have worked numerously in the past on various projects and curated by Arkitip, Leon is teaming up with Pendleton Woolen Mills on an original blanket. The large blanket measures 64 x 90 inches (162.56 x 228.6 cm) and it is made in their own milling factory at Pendleton Woolen Mills. Warmth is assured by the unnapped 82% pure virgin wool blended with 19% cotton and only 125 units are made. A simple black graphic represents the roots of Leon and it shows the state of California with eight holes on it, translating the influence skateboarding had on his life and upbringing. Red trimming contrasts the gray blanket and it features custom Michael Leon and Arkitip label designed by Leon as well.

In an odd twist of timing and fate, today also saw the official announcement of PENDLETON WOOLEN MILLS by Michael Leon, a capsule collection with creative collective Arkitip at the helm. Best known for his whimsical editorial of popular culture, from phallic-shaped wall adornments, “eyes wide shut” styled skull heads and often featured though not exclusive skateboard theme. All of which will be the unique characteristics in this special project, set to launch next Tuesday, August 2nd. More details to come soon.
Release Date: August 2nd, 2011 (Tuesday)

Forget all you have read or known about artworks by Romon Kimin Yang, or better known as Rostarr. To truly decipher the hugely talented Brooklynite’s vast array of paintings, prints, designs, mural, films, and etc… keep the term “fractal” in mind. Similar to the complex algorithm made famous by the late Dr. Benoît Mandelbrot, Rostarr’s works are endless continuities of bold black and white forms, relative in the context as well repetitive. But to fully appreciate the scope or his subject matter, pull yourself away from the work and observe it from afar. Quite literally, the forms come to life, like ebb and flow of ocean waves, each shape moves to their own rhythm though there is also a sort of synchronistic spin to the work as a whole. What Rostarr did and still doing, since 2 decades ago a member of Barnstormers to now, is to challenge his audiences to the true definition of art as something that is vibrant and most of all, alive. And with the Curated by Arkitip series between himself, Incase, and creative collective Arkitip, Rostarr hopes to bring the same approach to the masses.
In the forms of a Convertible Book Jacket for iPad and iPad 2, a Snap Case for iPhone 4, and 15-inch Sleeve for MacBook Pro, all are dressed in the familiar Rostarr’s signature geometric patterns. In variations of white, light grey, and dark grey, the “Graphysics” shapes gave the appearance of “dancing” around the epitaph that marked the center, Rostarr’s The Seed icon in brilliant orange. Limited in numbers produced, all of items of the collection are now available through pre-order at Incase online store. Please allow 4 weeks for shipment to start.

A trifecta of creative minds, Curated by Arkitip project by the printed matter and tech accessories maker Incase invites select artist to collaborate on limited edition designs. The next in line for the project is Romon Kimin Yang, more commonly known as Rostarr. Ever eye catching in his works’ unique features, especially his heavy use of bold patterns and vivid colors. Expect his signature style to spill over the iPhone Snap Cases, iPad and 15 inch laptop book jackets and sleeves for MacBook Pro. All will be revealed on Wednesday, May 25th, when the whole collection will be available simultaneously on Curated by Arkitip, Arkitip, and Incase.

To see Jose Parla’s artwork is to be enveloped, to be taken, where stratum of paints dictate a world of his own; a collusion of familiarity, especially that of language and spoken words, with the foreign, in sizes, colors, and definitions. For the 7th installment of Curated by Arkitip, Incase and Arkitip have sought out graffiti artist, C.R. Stecyk III and paid homage to his contribution to the early days of surf and skate culture on a 15″ Macbook Sleeve and iPhone 3GS Snap Case. For those unfamiliar with C.R. Stecyk III, he is a multimedia artist well recognized in the realm of graffiti and street art. Some of his early work includes painting on boards for the legendary Z-Boys which helped to establish iconic graphic styles of both skate and surf culture in its early hay day.

After Parra inaugurated the collaborative gallery space between Arkitip and Incase, San Francisco’s MASH had also left their mark at Project Space, and now, British documentary photographer (currently based in New York), Janette Beckman, will be hosting a photography exhibition “Janette Beckman, Archive of Attitude” at the same spot. For those who are not familiar with Beckman, she kicked off her career photographing the punk scene in the 70s and 80s, and went on shoot for publications such as Esquire, Rolling Stones, The Times, Newsweek and more. Some of the photographs on exhibit will include the one she took of LL Cool J in 1995. The exhibition will open soon on August 12 and will be running through September 5th.

Not too long ago, Arkitip and Incase’s joint community space venture, Project Space, was inaugurated with the exhibition “Yes, Yes, Yes” by Dutch artist, Parra. The exhibition opened and closed with nothing short of a bang and many coveted the space speckled with Parra’s voluptuous, black and white and often whimsical (yes, and very naughty) illustrations. For those who are still dreaming about owning a bit of Parra at home, the prints from the “Yes, Yes, Yes” exhibition are available for purchase. Each print is limited and numbered, and first up for sale is a silk screen which may explain how alcohol addiction comes about (bitterness of someone leaving, apparently). To purchase, visit Arkitip.

Bike enthusiasts may know a lot about bikes, be willing to spend a lot of time researching and a lot of money on the perfect assembly of gears, wheels and parts. Some may call San Francisco’s MASH biking enthusiasts, but traveling through California, through 750 miles of rain, sun, sweat, tears, and occasionally, splashes of blood, it seems like “enthusiast” is quite an understatement. Last year, MASH went on the extremely exclusive Tour of California (not to mention one of the toughest bike tours) and documented their journey with photographs, videos, memorabilia and stories worth regaling over and over. Following up on Parra’s exhibition, MASH took over Arkitip and Incase’s Project Space in Southern California and presented a multi-media exhibition which documented their participation in the Tour of California.
