Scheduled to preview at various snow sport trade shows around the world, the Pirelli Pzero x Burton Snowboard Limited Edition is the most recent venture for both fashion label and snowboard label. A first for Pirelli Pzero, the fashion branch of tire industry titan Pirelli, the collaboration for Winter 2012 – 2013 consists a complete package of board, bindings, and a pair of 2013 Burton Ion Boots, the focal point of the collection. By utilizing Pirelli’s experience on creation of tires, the company formulated a specific rubber compound made for the demands of snowboarding. Burton then added the compound into the outsole of Ion Boots, thus made a performance driven yet extremely comfortable footwear. In addition, the Ion Boots will include special tread patterns designed for superior traction, another feature thanks to Pirelli’s extensive work on snow tires.
Aside from the Burton Ion Boots, this limited collection will encompass a Burton Mystery snowboard, each custom made to be the lightest on Burton product portfolio. Rounding off the pack is the Pirelli Burton Diode EST bindings, which is again the lightest among its peers thanks to its cutting edge construction. All will feature yellow-gold pinstripes and accents on polished black backdrop, in reference to the motorsports world of the 1970s era. Set to be available Pirelli Corso Venezia in Milan this coming August along with select Burton retail locations around the world.

So profound was her visit to Freetown Christiania, a large hippy commune in Copenhagen, that Nina Garduno established FREECITY at her arrival in L.A. A communal space in Hollywood which mimics many of Christiania’s free wheeling concepts, FREECITY welcomes artisans of all kinds to sell their products, from organic baked goods, fixed gear bikes, musics, art, to a wide range of clothing. As a way to show support and appreciation, Burton created the FREECITY Puff Vest on its behalf. Featuring the FREECITY dove mark and its motivational slogan “The Natural FreeCity Lets Go” in large graphic print on its back, the detachable hood along with its 90% down-10% feathers makes it a versatile outerwear for both fall and winter. That Burton Snowboards is a company with deep design talent – both visual and technological – no one can question. However, it’s been increasingly clear in recent years that the company devotes a good deal of that talent towards creating interesting online content and experiences. Burton’s websites have evolved to keep pace with the absolute bleeding edge of design and aesthetic; they combine the slight edge of a boutique print shop with intuitive user interfaces and creative layouts (an artful ripoff of the Google header bar, for example). The company has just launched a “History Wall” microsite, which uses all that digital talent to highlight the brand’s decades of snowboard history. Against a tacky ski lodge aesthetic, Burton has laid out a scrapbook-style showcase of annual milestones – starting with the Burton Backhill from 1977, through the radical 1980′s and grunge-inspired 1990s, the Olympic era, the technological innovations of the 2000′s, to the new mystery project for 2012. This is a solid retrospective for fans of contemporary graphic design too – there are early Burton graphics displayed here that inspired countless design projects in recent years. Check out some of the highlights after the jump, and go on over to Burton’s History Wall to view everything.

With help from legendary snowboarder Jeremy Jones, Burton Snowboards finally created what many snowboarders have dreamed of, a collaborative design with Red Wing Heritage. Certainly both have teamed up with other manufacturers in the past. But the process into creating and finalizing the Rover Limited Snowboard Boots was somewhat unique since it will serve two very distinctive functions. With the popular Red Wing 877 model as its base, designers supplemented support and other needed features. Even so, there were no alterations to those elements characteristic of Red Wing, such as the lush full grain leather and yellow cord laces. Limited in units and high in demand, the Burton x Red Wing – Rover Limited Snowboard Boots is now available at all Burton flagship stores and through select Burton retailers.

Perfection isn’t an occurrence of natural but an outcome of countless trials and errors. Even then, the result could be a fleeting one, a concept known all too well by the Carhartt Work In Progress division. In the pursue of that ideal rugged performance wear for this winter season, it looked to another like-minded icon, Burton Snowboard. Together, the two blended signature features and came away with the Burton x Carhartt WIP Jacket and Pants.
Constructed on Carhartt‘s most recognizable outerwear, the Traditional, the Burton x Carhartt WIP Jacket is essentially a “Gore-Tex Deluxe” with a double layer of Gore-Tex Performance Oxford shell and 13 mm Gore-Seam tape to seal off any seams. While based on Carhartt’s Single Knee pants, the Burton x Carhartt WIP Pants underwent the same Gore-Tex weather proofing as with the jacket. Sparing no details, design teams of both entities went over each creation, adding hand warmer pockets, waist gaiter, and articulated reinforcements in key areas. After all, the collection was made with snowboarders in mind.
The Burton x Carhartt WIP Collection is available now at Burton flagship stores around globe and select Carhartt retail locations.

Along with “Rider of the Year” John Jackson joining Team Burton the season, snowboard sport’s most valued brand has another thing to celebrate about – the Burton x adidas Originals Capsule Collection. With the snowboard season winding up in the Northern Hemisphere, the collection culminates to the more insulated designs like the Burton x adidas Originals Down Casual Snow Jacket. A hint of plaid on a classic parka design, the Casual Down Jacket is more than winter-ready with its 70% down and 30% duck feather insulation. The addition of a detachable faux fur hood completely seals you off from the elements. But in case that isn’t adequate enough, a set of flannel shirts might just do the trick. Inspired by burly lumberjacks and stylish Yetis, the plaid flannels are the perfect onstage costumes for any Emo bands or just something to lounge around in. The Burton x adidas Originals Flannel Shirt and Down Casual Snow Jacket are available now at select Burton and adidas Originals retail locations.

When carving through powder in the harsh terrains of the back country or the steep slopes, there might be a time where we wish the Force was with us. Well fear no more, Burton is teaming up with Star Wars to bring some exclusive Chopper snowboards. Fans would appreciate that they got most of the bases covered, with graphics ranging from Darth Veider, Yoda, Luke Skywalker, C-3PO and R2-D2, Storm Troopers and even Boba Fett. Unfortunately for adults, these boards are only available in kids sizes from 80 to 130. via: BKRW

Seen everywhere from podium to concert stage, adidas Originals will be making its mark on the slopes this winter. With the help of snowboard giant Burton and Japanese design icon Kazuki Kuraishi, this collaborative collection already saw an impressive range of outwear and footwear at the start of the season. Now, the Trefoil brand will elaborate the collection further with the introduction of its hoodies and t-shirts as well. To be worn as simple base layer or intermittent wear between slope and lodge, all designs follow the 2 principle themes for this season, camouflage and woodgrain patterns. Weft knitted with poly-cotton fabric, the tees provide an easy comfort and warmth. The same goes for the hoodies, but with some augmentations for added tolerance, just in case people would wear them instead of a bulky outwear to ride in. All, with the rest of the Burton x adidas Originals collection, are now available at select adidas Originals and Burton retail locations around the world.

Arriving this week at selected adidas Originals and Burton flagship stores, the Burton x adidas Originals Apparel Collection by Kazuki Kuraishi is quite distinguishable on several fronts. One, despite its overtly simplistic appearance, especially in comparison to his Originals by Originals Collection, Kuraishi added details that would normally not be available in other adidas Originals creations, or even within this particular collaboration with Burton. An avid snowboarder himself, Kuraishi gave the Burton x adidas Originals Technical Jacket 3L KZK a Diaplex membrane, the so-called “intelligence fabric” for its ability to accordingly to temperature and other factors. All seams fully sealed, gaiter cuffs, a duo button-zip placket, the herringbone patterned cotton construct is actually rated for 20,000mm in water permeability and 15,000gm for moisture alleviation, both well within the industry standard. But just in case any wearers want to take on the backcountry routes, Kuraishi added the Burton x adidas Originals Insulator Vest KZK. A perfect stone alone piece or as a second layer, the fleece-lined vest in quilted pattern guarantee a run down the slope without compromises.

“adidas Originals Hearts Burton”, the design on this graphic tee speaks volume in the ongoing collaboration between two giants, each drawing expertise of another. For collection’s apparel line, the centerpiece (or centerpieces) are the Casual Snow Jacket and Pants. Visible design hints of both labels enmeshed with a water repellent finish, the duo is the perfect attire for a run from the top of the slope, or simply a run to the lounge for some hot chocolate. On the subject of lounge, the collection is full of classic lounge wear, loosely fitted hoodies and tees that are perfect as base layer pieces as well. If the weather turns for the worst, there is the Down Casual Snow Jacket, a classic parka with 70% down and 30% duck feathers to shield you from the elements. The Burton x adidas Originals Apparel Collection for Fall/Winter 2011 will be available in the coming weeks at select adidas Originals and Burton retail locations.
