The New Zealand apparel label Lower has teamed up with Casio to drop the Lower x Casio G-Shock DW5600LOW-9V. Working with the durable and versatile G-Shock from 1987, the DW5600, the watch blends the rough and rugged farming heritage of Lower’s home in New Zealand with the functionality of a modern day digital watch. While the watch packs the standard features you expect, including 200-Meter water resistance, a backlight, flash alert, a stopwatch, countdown timer, and multi-function alarm, the real highlight of this design is the leather face protector lined with wool, which is paired with a sheep dog whistle. The backside of the watch, front cover, and strap feature some custom Lower engraving and branding making this timepiece unique and undeniably more Kiwi than any other. Look for this watch to launch today, January 31st, at limited retailers across New Zealand and Australia or check out Thanks to pick one up online.

How is it that it’s 2012 and The Hundreds has never gotten together with Casio on a G-Shock release? OK that isn’t entirely true, the California based brand did team up with them and XLARGE back in 2008, but this is the first time they’re doing it without a third entity involved. The impending model of choice is the GW-5610, which aims for a very clean black and white base along with some logo hits around the wristband. Opting out of the yellow and orange parts from their Adam Bomb logo, the smart look is something more reminiscent of elegant aura that their retail spots have been built around. The Casio G-Shock G-001 is the least rugged-looking of the watchmaker’s tough, shock-resistant series; it is also affectionately known as Jason. Don’t let the friendly appearance and nick name fool you–this watch is as tough as its siblings, and these new colorways will keep time even under extreme circumstances. These new digital watches feature a two-tone color break up in Navy/Gray, Black/Gold and Gray/Black color schemes. All of the useful digital functions from Casio can be found on this watch, and these are good for water resistance of up to 200 meters. Casio G-Shock stockists should already have these models on their shelves–if not, head over to ARKWAX in Japan.

A crowd of over 500 guests, including select media and other brand big-wigs, got a first-hand look at the new Casio G-Shock x Dee & Ricky GA111DR-7A watch collaboration at the Trinity Place Bank Vault in New York City on November 29.
Keeping to the basics in terms of colorway and G-Shock functionality but not in style, the collaboration delivers a watch using only the primary colors, a design choice by Dee & Ricky that was inspired by Legos®. With the smooth contrasts of the G-Shock providing the occasion, DJ Mel Debarge and DJ Gravy along with special performances by Vinny Cha$e, Bobby 2 Flee and Swizzy Swinton provided the entertainment for the release party.
The watch’s specs include magnetic and shock resistance, 200m water resistance, an auto LED light, 48 city world time, a 1/1000th stopwatch with speed indicator, 4 daily alarms and 1 snooze alarm and 12 or 24 hour formats.
