Nike Sportswear x Cassette Playa Dunk High Premium | Available Now @ 21 Mercer

The Rivals pack, pitting the East and West coasts of the United States against one another, has produced some notable releases of late. But the US isn’t the only country getting into the competitive spirit this season, as European Rival pack models from the UK and Holland are now seeing releases in the US. We’ve shown you the spread for this collaboration with UK artist , whose designs are plastered across a Stadium Jacket, a Destroyer (Tech Bomber) Jacket, T-Shirt, and a Dunk High, which is shown in greater detail here. The upper appears to be mostly nylon, while the sole is peach colored. The illustrated mouth graphic that is featured on the jacket appears here on the toebox in blue and white. Contrast stitching in neon outlines the shoe and swoosh, and the lining is bright pink. The aesthetic seems to evoke the UK techno scene with it’s neon highlights and graphics. Grab these at Nike Sportswear’s store at 21 Mercer in New York City.

Nike Sportswear X Cassette Playa CO LAB Project | Rivalry Collection Holiday 2009

Aside from the East vs. West Pack between DJ Clark Kent and Eddie Cruz of UNDFTD, Sportswear just ushered in another virtual rivalry, this time between Amsterdam’s artist Parra and London-base designer Cassette Playa.  Similar to other so-called “rivalry”, there are no physical confrontation.  Neither there is a sense of animosity between each opponent.  Instead, the “rivalry” in this instance is about a competition to strain one’s creativity in design and outwit each other’s concepts.  It is in this conceptual crucible that wild ideas are born.
