CHANEL Mobile Art by Zaha Hadid Found Permanent Home In Paris

All Photos by Kaufman

Though its stint was shorten by the sudden economy down turn in 2008. Luxury fashion house CHANEL, designer Karl Lagerfeld, and Prikzter Architecture Prize winner Zaha Hadid have decided to resurrect Mobile Art, the traveling CHANEL Contemporary Art Container, once more, this time permanently at its original final destination of Paris. Unprecedented in its scale and concept for art lovers and fashion addicts, the UFO-shaped exhibition hall will sit next to another Prikzter Architecture Prize winner, Jean Novel, metal and glass creation at the Arab World Institute, a perfect juxtaposition between one organic style and structured form. The Mobile Art will house collaborative artworks from 15 artists, each utilized as an inspiration. If everything goes accordingly, the complex is set to open in March of 2011. via: WWD

CHANEL SoHo Boutique Store | Reopening

There is truly only one person who can induce such a frenzied phenomenon in SoHo, and get New Yorkers who are known to have seen it all truly riled up and excited about something– . The Chanel store in SoHo situated on Spring Street and Wooster Street ha recently reopened, and the pony-tailed fashion legend, Lagerfeld, had graced the city, attended the reopening, the after party, and held a private dinner and luncheon, and successfully drew out the young, the respectable, the fashionable and the talented all in one night. Freshness Week In Review: 09/06/2010 09/12/2010

New York City is overrun by the fashion world this week with two of fashion’s most important events happening– the second annual Fashion’s Night Out, and in New York City. Spring/Summer 2011 previews have officially kicked off this past Thursday, and designers ranging from the up-and-coming such as J. Sabatino and Christian Siriano, to the popular and controversial like Jeremy Scott, to the tried and true and beloved like Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein, will be showcasing their upcoming season for New York Fashion Week. A new season and new collection of clothes to see aside, in New York City has also officially moved away from its Bryant Park home, into a new base in the ever-theatrical Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side. On the second day of fashion week, Fashion has its night out as stores all over the city and in the boroughs extend their opening hours for shoppers to get their retail fix into wee hours of the night. While the concept started out as a mere extension of store hours to stimulate the economy as well as bring people back into the swing of enjoying shopping, Fashion’s Night Out has grown into a full-fledged fashion circus as each retailer and store seems to compete for attention with celebrity appearances, and one cool gimmick after another. For instance, Opening Ceremony had partnered up with Ace Hotel to open up “A Parisian Flea Market” selling specially curated and collaborated products, and BBC/Ice Cream brought Pharrell back to perform. However, aside from the fashion fanfare in New York City, many things still happened this week, including the  announcement of a collaborative boat between and Riva, and also the unveiling of a partnership between and . Also, on the in-house side of things, Freshness had reviewed the new TouchSmart 600 and will be having a special surprise soon. Check out the week in review, rewind, and unwind for the last bits of this week.

CHANEL SoHo 90 Foot Long LED Canopy

Imagine that you’re the event planner for a special evening with some of the best-dressed people on the planet. Then, imagine the dilemma for that evening – the event space is too small to shelter these VIPs from the elements and shield them from the prying eyes of paparazzo. The logical answer is to construct a temporary structure, a tent perhaps. But if your employer was the fashion house CHANEL and the VIPs were friends of designer Karl Lagerfeld, a mere tent would not be sufficed. Instead, you need to have something sturdy and opulent, something like a canopy adorned with LED lights, an exact prescription for last evening’s pre-opening party for CHANEL SoHo flagship in New York City.

A sprawling built-out that extended outward to the sidewalk and Cobblestone Street, the temporary canopy housed Lagerfeld and company as invited guests caught the first glimpse of the newly renovated flagship by architect Peter Marino. Approximately 90-foot in length and wrapped around the corner storefront in a L-shape configuration, the structure’s exterior walls were studded with thousands of LED’s lights. All sequenced, in slow motion, a giant photo slide show of SoHo By Karl,  New York’s scenery took by Lagerfeld himself. The store itself will be open to the general public today as part of its Fashion’s Night Out festivities.

CHANEL Sports and Lifestyle Collection

As the leader of all things chic and luxurious, French couture house CHANEL pretty much as the definitely stamp on whether something belongs in the “tres chic” category or rejected with a sad shake and “non”. While on the subject, has decided that sports, music and some other related lifestyle items should be tres chic and hence look the part as well. While we had previously introduced some very coveted CHANEL snowboards that will absolutely tempt more ladies to participate in the sport, here are some other sporting and music equipment that CHANEL had lain its mark on. Think skis, basketball in black and white with the CHANEL double C logo, football, goggles, surf board, scooter, fishing pole with matching quilted puffy case, boomerang, helmet, acoustic guitar (of course, housed in the same black, quilted puffy carrying case). No better to show your opponents up pre-game for a little taunt to get the competition going. Images via: Cadmus Family

CHANEL CHANEL Snowboard

For winter, CHANEL puts the luxury touch on snow sports but adding the aesthetics onto skis, goggles and more. Of course, since we are talking about snow sports, snowboard would be one of the quintessential parts of winter adrenaline excitement. Check the Snowboards that differ themselves from regular pop-art graphics with classic touches. Think the ever sophisticated black and white, the all natural wooden planks and monochrome stripes all emblazoned with the logo. Stay a class above the rest in terms of skills and looks this season with and get your very own board to shred through the powder.

CHANEL Spring/Summer 2010 Runway Show | Featuring Lily Allen

’s Spring/Summer 2010 Runway Show in Paris at the Grand Palais might look like a barn (though is inspired by Marie Antoinette’s 18th century hamlet at Versailles) but it is absolutely star studded with Prince, Claudia Schiffer, Sean Lennon and Rihanna on the front row. The hit of the night though, would be a surprising performance of “Not Fair” by Lily Allen, who popped out of the hay from the floor with her band. Check out the video of her performance and the runway shoe, paying attention to the incredible rustic set which a team of 38 sculptors, painters, carpenters and metal workers a week to build. via: Associated Press, WWD

Lily Allen For CHANEL Behind The Scene Video

British songstress Lily Allen had us at “Smile”, and we had previously previewed the upcoming CHANEL campaign Allen had done with the industry’s one and only . Here’s an exclusive video from Oh-Lily that takes us behind the scenes to check out what went into the timeless black-and-white images that captured the spirits of Allen and so harmoniously together. Driving the classics with a slightly rebellious modern edge, the label and Allen reinvented themselves with each other and of course, all under the helpful watch from Lagerfeld. We are pretty sure Madame Coco would be very very pleased her legacy is carried on. via: Oh-Lily

Lily Allen For CHANEL

British crooner Lily Allen packs some punch in her lyrics and brings just the same playful attitude to the new CHANEL campaign. Rarely seen without her beloved bag, Allen is a befitting face for the brand, albeit a surprising one. The songstress plays dress up in this black and white campaign shot by our favorite pony-tailed designer, Karl Lagerfield, donning tiaras and catsuit. The campaign turns out to be quite Breakfast At Tiffanys meet edgy punk princess, and the clash came out to be something rather beautiful.

In preparation for his first solo exhibition in Hong Kong’s Art Statements Gallery, Parisian graffiti artist ZEVS decided to take a brief detour a few hours ago for a “bombing” run.  Armed with a ladder, black paint, factitious cleaning crew outfit and barricade tape,  he went on to adorn the signage of – Central District flagship store with his signature “Liquidated” motif…  Unfortunately, local law enforcements were notified and ZEVS was arrested soon after these images were taken… No news on whether he’s been release yet or whether he will make it to the opening of the exhibit this Tursday…

ZEVS Solo Exhibition Hong Kong

Infamous and anonymous Parisian street artist ZEVS have made an impact on the French art scene and caught the world’s attention with his Liquidated logos. ZEVS is back again in Hong Kong and this time he will be holding a first solo exhibition later this month at Art Statements Gallery in Central. For this exhibition ZEVS will produce all new art works made in Hong Kong from July 1st to 16th, working with local craftsmen on several paintings of LV and logos in lacquer using traditional Chinese methods. Other pieces we can expect will be made in ceramics and paintings on metal amongst others. As the works are being developed now, we will just have to wait until the exhibition to see the full volume of works.
