After a succession of raucous parties this side of the Atlantic, Undefeated‘s co-founder Eddie Cruz made a short trip to England for launch of the UNDFTD x PUMA Clyde. More subtle than the launch events here, Cruz met and greeted with fans at the storied Dover Street Market in London while handed out his very own “signed baseball cards”. Commonly known as the “stripe off” Clydes, the exclusive creation comes in 4 different colorways and in place of the PUMA Stripe, a clean silhouette of premium leather instead. The only visible brandings are the UNDFTD Strikes logo on the tongue tab and “PUMA Clyde” insignia embossed in gold. All 4 models are now available at Dover Street Market, the collaboration’s exclusive retailer in London.

All new COMME des GARÇONS t-shirt designs have been stocked on the shelves at Dover Street Market retail store and DMS online store. The Spring/Summer 2011 styles from COMME des GARÇONS PLAY is centered around the use of metallic gold foil print on the front of the t-shirts. Both mens and ladies sizes are available with the signature PLAY heart graphic and logo is printed in various sizes. Base t-shirt fabrics are kept simple in white or grey colors which attracts attention to the metallic graphics. Three different print sizes of the heart artwork is made and the staple PLAY logo design is also included in the collection.

A world renowned British select store Dover Street Market worked alongside England’s oldest motorcycle clothing company, Lewis Leathers and Japanese fashion brand COMME des GARÇONS for a triple label High Cut Wool Felt sneakers. The boot-like rugged construction of the sneakers are not new as variants of the same style were produced in the past, however, this version utilizes black wool felt uppers and premium leather parts. Monotone sneaker design is broken up by a bright red out soles that makes an appearance while walking. Zipper on the rear section makes wearing easy and the heel is reinforced by leather straps for comfort and support. via: ALOHA RAG
Yesterday we announced the special Rei Kawakubo designed window at Dover Street Market for commemorating Ai Wei Wei’s exhibition opening at Tate Modern, and today, we get a better look at the windows which boast T-shirts, art and Ai Wei Wei’s signature tweet slogans that have been unveiled at London’s destination of all-things-worth-buying. The window features 36 clothing lines with t-shirts strung through them, and texts. Check out the window, and if you are in town, Dover Street Market is also selling collaborative t-shirts between Ai Wei Wei and COMME des GARÇONS.

Chinese contemporary artist, Ai Wei Wei, has recently opened an exhibition at Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall, and in celebration of the show, Rei Kawakubo’s COMME des GARÇONS has partnered up with the artist to rework the coveted Dover Street Market window space for the artist. The window space will be designed by Kawakubo herself, and the installation tribute will feature hundreds of Ai Wei Wei T-Shirts, portraits, art work and statements on 36 washing lines. Also, the duo will be releasing special collaborative t-shirts to commemorate the exhibition and the occasion, and they will be on sale for £15 on October 13, the day after Ai Wei Wei’s exhibition opens at Tate Modern.

Burnished is the new black with Rei Kawakubo’s minimal deconstructionist tendencies, as seem from the new Lewis Leather Sneaker from Dover Street Market. As previously reported, Rei Kawakubo’s retail venture, Dover Street Market had expanded beyond its Dover Street quarters and into Japan’s online retail community, ZOZOVILLA. Amongst the fresh line-up of Dover Street Market items that are now available, the Lewis Leather Sneaker is eye catching as it is immediately reminiscent of the perennial retro favorite, Converse Chuck Taylor All Star. These sneakers are constructed with a mix of dyed canvas and leather, and packed with a non-nonchalant rocker attitude with a zipper in the heel and deliberately dyed soles. A buckled leather panel that stretches across the heel gives the shoes that extra kick of edginess. The shoes are faded and dyed individually, so each pair has a unique look. The shoes are available in grey and blue, dive bar and live concert ready, and they are now available for pre-order online at Dover Street Market ZOZOVILLA.

Originally one of the very few places to find a complete and comprehensive collection of COMME des GARÇONS, Dover Street Market as conceptualized and directed by Rei Kawakubo (also the lady behind COMME des GARÇONS) has quickly expanded and established itself as one of the quintessential and respected retailers in the industry, carrying some of the most coveted and rare accouterments in the world. In Kawakubo’s own words, “I want to create a kind of market where various creators from various fields gather together and encounter each other in an ongoing atmosphere of beautiful chaos; the mixing up and coming together of different kindred souls who all share a strong personal vision”.
As its namesake suggests, Dover Street Market, was named after the street it settled on, Dover Street in London. However, this season, Dover Street Market is moving beyond a physical location and onto one of Japan’s largest online community, ZOZO. Like Undercover, Dover Street Market will be moving into ZOZOVILLA and bringing a series of labels such as Ganryu and of course, DSM Label to the online shop. This may not be the retailer’s first online venture as it has its own E-Shop, but the grand opening on ZOZOVILLA promises a new audience and fresh exclusive goods.
To delve a little more into the available brands, DSM Label will be offering its Spring/Summer 2010 collection, themed “The Mechanic’s Wardrobe”. Meanwhile, Ganryu is the eponymous label from designer Fumito Ganryu. He is the fourth designer of COMME des GARÇONS’ and his first collection with the label was in Spring/Summer 2007. For his personal vision, Ganryu attempts to find a new identity beyond gender in his creations. Some items one will be able find at the new online location in ZOZOVILLA are graphic tees, patchwork blazer with matching denim, and a pair of rustic high top sneaker reminiscent of Chuck Taylor All Star Hi-Top from DSM Label. As for Ganryu, dress shirts with interesting graphic details and denim tailored with an interesting silhouette (slightly more tailored at the legs with a drop crotch) will be available amongst other items.
The store is set to open on March 15, so do click on back to check out the store when it’s up and running.

For a while, t-shirts seem to have an anarchist presence in the world of high-fashion. The simple, blank canvas was more of a street thing than runway material. However, if the impeccably dressed had a tee of choice to don on the weekends, COMME des GARÇONS Play t-shirts have been Sunday wardrobe staples for years and transgressed through the changing status of the t-shirt (for seasons now, finally tees are loved presence on the runway). In this light, a new limited edition line of COMME des GARÇONS Play t-shirts is now available in-store at Dover Street Market and the DSM E-SHOP. The plain white tees continue to feature COMME des GARÇONS Play’s signature heart with inquisitive eyes. The logo hearts come in various spring-ready shades such as powder blue, lime and pink; and in another series, the hearts are outlined in black, red and green, each in varying shape and size, lending the hearts different characteristics and lives of their own. The tees are now available in very limited quantities, so those who are coveting new Play tees should be quick to avoid disappointment.

In the world of contemporary fashion where style and design are ever volatile and dictated by undercurrents of trends and tastemakers, few labels remain determined in their own grounds, pursuing their very own creative visions untainted by popular opinion. Rei Kawakubo’s COMME des GARÇONS has remained one such label with a clear sense of direction that pleases the designer and she treads her own happy grounds very much inspirational and conceptual in way one would possibly approach fine arts. Albeit some commercial aspects, the label never fails to refresh and inspire, and this season, Kawakubo has enlisted the help of the doubtful French artist, P. Nicolas Ledoux to use a series of his drawings on a new collection of wallets. The French artist is known for his fine drawings with a hint of melancholy and manga-style traits which question the state and relevance of contemporary art. In Anne Lille’s description based on an interview with the artist, “[Ledoux] centers his work around questions whose answers browbeat both their author and those they are directed to: ‘is it still possible to produce pictures, to give them life and enough weight to take on the world?’; ‘how can we accept to play the game of contemporary art, of its culture- to buy into its rules and goals?’”
And the result of this matrimony—a collection of coin purses, zip-wallets featuring the artist’s rendition of life and urban-scape through his perspective of the world. The wallets have a quiet reflective quality, just as Ledoux work does.
The collection is now available online at the DSM E-SHOP, for those who are feeling the artist’s work.

The wait for COMME des GARÇONS x The Beatles collection is finally over– at least for the folks not living in Tokyo without easy access to the Trading Museum and the COMME des GARÇONS Concept Store hosted within. The Beatles had been having the time of the year with a series of high profile projects, including a revival of the band’s favorite tracks on an Apple USB and collaborative collections with labels such as BAPE. Of course, one of the most discussed, speculated and anticipated collabs comes with Rei Kawakubo’s COMME des GARÇONS. The collection is finally available now, bags, totes, tees and button downs for order online at Dover Street Market. All items in the collection are lovingly embraced by the green apple logo of band’s record and distribution label, Apple Corps, embossed into leather and printed onto tees and shirts. Some of the items are already sold out on Dover Street Market, so those who are still looking to cop an item from the collaboration, be quick and click.
