Pima Art and Space Museum   The Boneyard Project: Return Trip

Fans of street and contemporary art will have to go a little out of their way to check out the latest works from some of the most prominent artists working today. Specifically, they’ll have to travel to Tuscon, Arizona, where the Pima Air and Space Museum will host “The Boneyard Project: Return Trip.” There, the art won’t be displayed on walls, but rather on the surface of retired aircraft that litter the area and make up the “boneyard.” The ambitious project was conceived last spring by gallery owner Eric Firestone and organized with the help of curator Carlo McCormick.

Throughout the past few weeks, the exterior of three super DC-3 planes were made over by Nunca, Retna and twin artists How & Nosm. On January 28th, they’ll be joined by additional planes painted by Faile and Andrew Schoultz, as well as a cockpit transformed by Saner. Also on display will be over 30 nose cones painted by the likes of Aiko, , , Daze, , , , , Erik Foss, Tara Mcpherson, , Lee Quinones and . Click through for additional preview looks after the click.

FUTURA   Live Painting at Galerie Jérôme de Noirmont | Video

Unfortunately you are not witnessing the world’s first ninja to paint a mural, in fact it is the legendary aerosol master FUTURA in disguise. Galerie Jérôme de Noirmont recently hosted an exhibition with FUTURA entitled Expansions and as part of the exhibition he was invited to paint a large scale mural on one of the walls at the gallery. The three minute long footage captures the artist moving in a precise yet fluid motion, layering paint over the white backdrop. It doesn’t matter how many times we see him paint, the whole process is still very mesmerizing. Take a look at the full video after the jump to see the finished artwork.

FUTURA 2000: FUTURA 2012   Expansion Exhibit | Galerie Jerome de Noirmont Paris

Legendary graffiti artist Leonard McGurr, better known as FUTURA 2000, is set to open an exhibition made up of fifteen new works, all created in 2011. Entitled “ 2012 – Expansions,” the installation will run from January 13th to February 29th at Galerie Jerome de Noirmont in Paris. Preview images reveal the artist’s signature paint work that showcases spontaneity and energy, the bold colors and lines on the canvas expressing a set of actions as opposed to traditional pictorial representation. Doing what he has for the past three decades, FUTURA has developed a technique and style that sets him apart from his contemporaries.

RECON Brand   Re Launch | Preview

Momentum is certainly building and increasing by the day. After a long hiatus, RECON, the NYC downtown original, is preparing for a brand re-launch. The label, officially known as RECON Brand, just took down its countdown webpage. In its place, a montage of daily updates as the official re-launch date nears. But the most interesting element on the work-in-progress website is the archival revisit of past merchandises. FUTURA x Stash x Wane   RECON Re Launch Mural | Video

You wouldn’t notice looking from the outside. But with each generation of new entries to the so-called street culture, the further it deviates from the true origin. In sensing the time is right, graffiti artist is re-launching his iconic label RECON once again. To coincide with the countdown to its official debut, Stash enlisted helps from fellow graf legends FUTURA and to paint up one street corner of New York City. In the video that documented the process, viewers will get a glimpse at the Artist Series, including signature footwear from Stash and …morsels of intrigue indeed.

FUTURA x Supreme   Hooded Pullover + Snapback Cap

A staple of Supreme‘s lineup every season is the brand’s signature fleece hoodie. Made by CYC and constructed with heavy-duty, seemingly indestructible cotton fleece, the hoodie is a quality garment that’s worth every penny. A standout this season is a pullover emblazoned with FUTURA‘s Supreme logo, last seen on a tee from Fall/Winter 2006. It’s available in several colors, including an olive green that’s new for the season. FUTURA x Clarks Wallabees | Available Now

Clarks Originals and FUTURA have a healthy relationship lasting many years producing limited edition Wallabees and the latest offering has finally became available. Unlike the usual soft style of Wallabees, these versions are constructed using ballistic nylon on the uppers, strengthen up the exterior. Blue and black leather parts on the ankle and toe balance the nylon and atomic patterns by are printed on the leather materials. Crepe soles are almost mandatory for this model and it helps to soften up the militant aesthetic. Two sets of laces are included with the footwear and these are currently available at HANON and participating boutiques.

FUTURA x Kaneko Optical   Sunglasses

Just in time to shield your eyes from the harmful UV rays, the sunglass project with FUTURA and Kaneko Optical is back again this season. Similar to the initial project, there are three sunglasses made in thick tortoise, black and clear celluloid frames. Each pair is carefully handcrafted in Japan using traditional methods used since the brand’s inception in 1958. The iconic tags can be found on the inner right temple and outer top right corner of the right lens celebrating the collaboration. These sunglasses are currently available at FUTURA LABORATORIES online store in Japan.
