After its introductory video last week, adidas Originals released a few glimpses of the upcoming adidas Originals by David Beckham – Design by James Bond Collection for Spring/Summer 2012. Told through the thoughtful design of UNDFTD‘s co-founder James Bond, adidas Originals by David Beckham is always a careful curation between Beckham’s personal style and the causal lifestyle of a sprawling city like Los Angeles. Both trend setting and a reflection at the same time, the collection is indicative of the symmetry of leisure and work, as told through the collection’s colors and silhouettes. We reported on the UNDFTD grand opening exclusive collection that celebrated the opening of the UNDEFEATED chapter in San Francisco just last week and here we take a preview into the newly opened store. The San Francisco chapter follows the same concept as their Los Angeles and Las Vegas counterparts and its black, minimalist facade draws attention from the street. Two large windows invites curious pedestrians into a cozy atmosphere with wooden flooring and furnishing. Sneakers are displayed wall to wall on the left while apparel and accessories are neatly organized on the right. Athletic inspired mural covers the whole of the left wall and spills over the back wall. Be sure to drop by and take a look for yourself when you are in the neighborhood.

In a most dissonant exhibit against a floundering economy as backdrop, proprietors Eddie Cruz and James Bonds set out to open their 5th retail locations in the U.S., the UNDFTD San Francisco. Scheduled to be this Friday, September 9th, the new store front will actually take over the shuttered HUF location on Hayes Street. To commemorate the opening, UNDFTD will offer a capsule collection with San Francisco Giants‘ black and orange color scheme.  Included in the exclusive collection will a pair of UNDFTD x New Era baseball caps, both in the likeness of Giant’s official headgear, and a CONVERSE Poorman’s Weapon in black canvas and orange accents.  There is also a matching graphic tee and for good measure, a similar tee as tribute to the Oakland A‘s as well.  The collection will be available exclusively at UNDFTD San Francisco store.

When you peeled away all the technical elements and the modernist silhouettes on the upcoming collection from adidas Originals by David Beckham/Design J. Bond, you are left with just one description – effortlessly cool. With UNDFTD co-founder James Bond behind the mood board, David Beckham dictated away his concept for Fall 2011. There is a bit of the British influence, where Beckham was more of a soccer god rather than just a player. Look beyond and you will find hints of American casual wear, particularly those with collegiate/varsity sports flairs. Technical specifications such as Scholler 3XDRY fabric on the DB Pullover Jacket and heavy duty cotton rip-stop pattern found DB Field Jacket are all essential needs of today’s active lifestyle. Predates the current game of power serves and ball smashing choreography was Forest Hills, the hidden away neighborhood in Queens, New York and former home of U.S. Open Tennis Championship. As a deference to those days of spins and finesse, James Bond of UNDFTD re-imagined the adidas Originals Forest Hills as a midtop instead. Still with its vibrant colored outsole, this new rendition includes the addition of a mesh tongue for comfort. In either white leather or black suede, the Forest Hills Mid DB is to be part of adidas Originals by David Beckham’s Fall/Winter 2011 Collection. Becks and Bond’s excellent adventure continues apace. Here’s a preview of two new runners from the adidas Originals x David Beckham collection for spring/summer 2012, featuring one model from the past and one from the present. The ClimaCool runner, in vibrant orange or black, is the line’s first foray into modern performance footwear. The shoe is something of a hybrid, with the upper from the original ClimaCool runner combined with the outsole of the ClimaCool Ride. Difficult to believe that while its release was only in 2008, the UNDFTD x adidas Originals Top Ten Hi seems to be a creation from a lifetime ago. Perhaps its from the design’s timeless aspects. 3 years later, the “untold” story behind its origination will be on view as adidas Originals, along with UNDFTD‘s Eddie Cruz and James Bond, put the UNDFTD x adidas Originals Top Ten Hi into perspective once again with the creation of its B-Sides Edition. A partnership long time in the making. To retell the stories behind its archive and designs, adidas Originals will include its iconic Top Ten Hi basketball sneakers to the upcoming B-Sides Collection. Decidedly different this time however, are design inputs from Eddie Cruz and James Bond, founders of Los Angeles UNDFTD. Essentially a “flip” on the original colorway, the UNDFTD x adidas Originals Top Ten Hi is in predominately black with gold speckled pattern on top of pebble leather upper. Finished with detailing like contrast black and white accents, UNDFTD gold lace dubre, removable aglets, and a UNDFTD branded sock-liner. After its initial success, the adidas Originals x David Beckham Collection expanded on the premises of preppy varsity silhouettes interjected with British sensibilities for Fall and Winter 2011. Also attentive to urban trends and active lifestyle, the collaboration with David Beckham and Undefeated’s James Bond will be introducing the DB M65 Jacket, the former standard issue to U.S. service men with a twist – weather proof coated Schoeller fabric. The DB Puff Jacket, with its durable ripstop nylon shell and down insulation is the perfect “in-between outerwear” while the seasons are in transition. Puristic and simplicity but never too far from functionality, design ideals behind the DB Knitted Sweater Jacket with its water repellent coating. On the footwear aspect, as Freshness previewed last week, the collection’s DB Gazelle Vintage Mid and Forest Hills Mid DB are throw backs of iconic trainers, a perfecting the mix of athletic appeal, vintage visages, and contemporary technical advancements.

A total of 28 apparels, 5 footwears, and 4 accessories, the anticipated Fall/Winter 2011 Collection from adidas Originals by Originals – David Beckham by James Bond will be available starting at the end of August follow by a second product release in October 2011.
