wish x KAWS T Shirt

Atlanta’s Wish has gotten together with KAWS on a limited edition tee, featuring the instantly recognizable Companion figure that’s set to launch exclusively at . The t-shirt releases ahead of the exhibition, “: Down Time,” opening February 18th at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and running through May 20th. Sponsored by Wish, the solo exhibit will feature a 22-foot-high mural created exclusively for the High that KAWS will finish over the course of a week in February. KAWS himself will also appear for a meet and greet for his t-shirt launch at Wish on February 10th at 6 pm.

OriginalFake x fragment design   Girl Bending T Shirt   Blue

At the start of the year, we saw OriginalFake and fragment design team up to release the Girl Circle Pink T-Shirt. Here is the second installment from the Tokyo-based brands, and this time they have taken another piece of artwork from KAWS for their t-shirt graphic. The Girl Bending T-Shirt takes a similar route in terms of design, with the monochromatic artwork on the front and the lightning logo printed over it in blue. There will be limited quantities produced, and it will be sold exclusively at the OriginalFake store in Tokyo. The launch of the t-shirts will take place this Saturday, February 11th.

The usually reserved KAWS have been molded into a figure alongside his long time partner in crime, the Companion. Resembling a bronze statue, the miniature figures are set up on a circular base. is seen waving his hand but the Companion looks to be a little bit camera shy. OriginalFake is also launching some mens and ladies t-shirts featuring the same graphic on the front. All of the items will be dropping this Saturday, January 28th at OriginalFake store in Tokyo.

OriginalFake x Peanuts – “JOE KAWS” Mugs

’ evolution from graffiti writer to full-fledged pop artist began with a key. Specifically, a skeleton key, presented by fellow graff artist Barry McGee, that opened the glass advertising boxes on New York City’s phone booths and bus stops. Soon, was defacing those ads with Xed out eyes and cartoon skulls, which eventually evolved into the creation of the Companion character. ’ brand of cartoon iconography has since collided with actual cartoon icons, resulting in the “Joe KAWS” vinyl figure. KAWS + Picturebox + The Standard Present   James Jarvis: Live Painting & Signing Event

Spend this evening in the company of friendly caricature as British illustrator James Jarvis (of Amos Toys fame) host an autograph event at The Standard New York. Part of an ongoing program at the trendsetting hotel organized by fellow artist KAWS and Picturebox, Jarvis will premiere a new narrative titled “De Profundis” tonight, the first such project in the last 5 years. Along with the book’s release, Jarvis also decorated Shop with his distinctive, whimsical creatures. As with artists like Julia Chiang, Anthony Lister, Andrew Kuo, Ryan McGinness, and Jeff Canhammural before him, Jarvis mural will be on display from today to December 8th. In the meantime, be sure to stop by The Standard tonight for a rare meeting with the artist himself.

KAWS   KAWSBOB Enters The Strange Forest Painting | Sold For A Record High $155,000 At Charity Auction

For a few, it was home. For many others, Japan’s odd mix of traditions and modernities served as their place of inspirations. So when pop artist started plans for his charity auction to benefit the ongoing recovery efforts from March’s devastating Tohoku-Pacific Earthquake, artists like , Cindy Sherman, KAWS, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, and more jumped on the chance. Even gallerist Larry Gagosian and Christie’s auction house chairman Francois Pinault decided to pitch in.

After a 3-day long showing at Gagosian Gallery, the Tohoku-Pacific Earthquake Benefit Auction went underway this morning at Christie’s New York headquarters. With actor Ken Watanabe presiding, the 20 works of art sold briskly in the matter of few hours. By the time the final gravel fell, the auction generated a total of $8,756,100 million. What’s more, “KAWSBOB Enters The Strange Forest”, a 60-inch in diameter acrylic on canvas by artist , fetched a whopping price of $155,000! A additional $110,000 more than the highest estimate price and a new record price for the artist’s work. Congratulation to all who participated.

Christies + Takashi Murakami   Tohoku Pacific Earthquake Benefit Auction

Seven months have passed already since the tragic earthquake and tsunami that hit the Tohoku region of Japan on 3/11. Unfortunately, the catastrophic event have left many still homeless, all now are battling to rebuild their communities. At the same time, the region is fighting for some sort of normalcy after multiple failures at Fukushima nuclear power plant . In the hopes of bringing worldwide attention on the wounded country, Christie’s and Takashi Murakami, in conjunction with many generous artists, have initiated the Tohoku-Pacific Earthquake Benefit Auction, to be held on Wednesday, November, 9th at Christie’s New York.

Notable artists donating their impressive artworks include , KAWS, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, , Zeng Fanzhi, Mark Grotjahn, Thomas Houseago, Friedrich Kunath, Mr., Gabriel Orozco, Anselm Reyle, Cindy Sherman, Aya Takano and Luc Tuymans. Preview of the auctioning pieces will be held at Gagosian Gallery from October 26th until 28th, for those interested to take part in the auction. Furthermore, Oscar-nominated actor Ken Watanabe will be officially opening the sale with a reading of a Japanese poem.
