There has been no shortage of The Simpsons merchandise during the show’s epic run that started way back in 1989. One character that has been noticeably absent however is series creator himself, Matt Groening. Immortalizing him in a 6-inch vinyl toy in celebration of the 500th episode set to air this month, Kid Robot has designed this new release. Adding to their ongoing Simpsons collaboration, the toy version of Groening is complete with glasses, goatee, and a sketchpad with Homer’s head scribbled on. Grab the toy now from Kid Robot’s online shop or pick one up at either of their brick and mortar shops listed below.

Last week New York City’s Swatch store on 5th Avenue was the site of a special launch event for the Kidrobot for Swatch Collection. Downtown Sweetheart Vashtie was on hand to provide beats, while participating artists Frank Kozik, MAD and Jeremyville were in the building, putting on live painting demonstrations. The other artists who contributed custom designed Gent watches for the collection are Tilt, Tara McPherson, SSUR, Gary Baseman and Joe Ledbetter. Upon a meeting with Paul Budnitz and you will notice a certain amount of restlessness. Its hardly noticeable but the telltale signs are there, characteristics traits of a serial entrepreneur. Little surprise then when the founder of Kidrobot announced his newest venture, the Paul Budnitz Bicycles. The approach is a straight forward one. By looking at bicycles as how you would see a vintage MG, Aston Martin, or Austin Healey, Budnitz narrowed the design with a certain retro aesthetics. Simply known as Model No.1 and Model No.2, each comprised of titanium alloy frame with a split-tube Cantilever Frame, trademarked by Budnitz. Discs brakes, along with top of line components like Gates Carbon Belts, each bike frame weighs around 3.3 lbs (without parts). Select from commuter oriented, cruiser style Model No.1 or mountain bike-like Model No.2, both are now available exclusively at http://budnitzbicycles.com for $5500 US.

In a seeming match made in heaven, vinyl art toy specialist Kidrobot has teamed up with Swiss watchmaker Swatch on a special eight-watch collection. The artists are as follows: Frank Kozik, Jeremyville, MAD, Tilt, Tara McPherson, SSUR, Gary Basmen and Joe Ledbetter. You can buy each Gent and Dunny combination separately, or you can buy all eight as a numbered limited edition set. Each watch in the set has its limited edition number (1-300) and comes in special packaging along with its Dunny partner. The Dunnys are three inches while Frank Kozik’s white mustachioed Dunny comes in a special 20-inch high version.
The Kidrobot for Swatch collection will be available at Swatch stores and Swatch retailers worldwide on September 1st.

As previously reported, Kidrobot will be holding the MUNNYWORLD Custom Toy Exhibition from Nov 13- Nov 15. Among the participating artists, U.K.’s Dave White will also be a part of the MUNNYWORLD crew with his military, USAF inspired, “Top Mun”. The all white Munny turns into a cool, burnished, steely grey that resembles the body of an aircraft with numberings and air force logos adorning the vinyl toy. With his meticulous attention to detail, check the discolored patches from “splashes” and silver dots reminiscent of welded parts of the aircraft body. If this strikes your fancy and you can’t wait to cop this super fly toy for your mantle, you will have to visit the exhibition at Eloquent Deliquents Gallery in SoHo! If you miss it, you can always try to recreate your own with a spanking clean white Munny.
