Married To The MOB x Casio Baby G Launch Party | Event Recap

It is a “never fail” proposition that when you combine the ladies from MTTM with a party of any kind, the results will always be “fun and messy”. Case in point, the recent launch event for the label’s newest collaboration with Casio Baby-G. Unlike under endeavors by Casio in the past, the event was low key and exclusive to a few. But keep in mind we didn’t say it wasn’t fun. At the premium Royal Suite at the landmark Plaza Hotel in NYC, guests enjoyed the view over Central Park, pampered themselves to some long overdue manicure, and fulfilled their gastronomic desires with champagnes and other deliciously consumable goods. Of course, when you have Leah, Sarah, and Tabitha involved, there is bound to have plenty of gyrating hips, kissing, and girl-on-girl actions. In the meantime, the Married To The MOB x Casio Baby-G is now available through MTTM online store.

Married To The Mob x Casio Baby G
has established herself as one of the leading ladies of streetwear, building a successful company in a fashion industry niche that is overwhelmingly male. Married to the Mob has stepped up as the counterpart to so many male streetwear startups – and done what many them have been unable to do – survive and grow (her label has won pretty solid acclaim, and a retail deal with Urban Outfitters). Now MTTM is taking one of the classic steps in streetwear label evolution – a G-Shock collaboration. is partnering with Casio to create the BG5600MOB-4; the Baby G is done in a lightly metallic purple, which fits right into MTTM’s appropriation of the female cuteness stereotype. The watch comes in special packaging, featuring the lipstick kiss logo, and will retail at some decidedly un-streetwear accounts too – Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Macy’s – giving the label even more of a mass market presence. does have to manage the shift into bigger accounts, but in the short term, they’ve done a great job with this Baby G collaboration. Sure to be a hit with MTTM fans; in a press release, Leah McSweeney said “My MOB customers had been specifically requesting that I do a watch with Baby-G so I am very pleased to give my loyal customers what they are asking for.” Check out the additional shots after the jump, and look for the watch to drop in May.

Married To The MOB – Spring 2011 Collection | Delivery 2

No one else can really top Lady Gaga and Supreme, with the exception of the original Queen B!@ch of New York City, of MTTM. Along with “Sweet 16″ sister Sarah, long time MOB member Tabitha and others, built up a movement of “street smart, tough love” antics usually dominated by her male counterparts. Those antics are found once again on MTTM’s graphic tees. Loud, obscene, obnoxious, the statements on each matched all the above, yet there is remnant of humor and sensuality. Goes to show you behind that growling blond hot head flipping the bird, there is a fun-loving girl ready for a night out on the town. The Delivery 2 of Married To The MOB Spring 2011 Collection is now available at MTTM retail locations and its online store.

Freshness Week In Review: 11/22/2010 – 11/26/2010

Believe us when we tell you that we were “armed” to the teeth for Black Friday, that one day of the year all trend reporters lived for. First, we had a dozy of a checklist ranging from down jackets, thermal long johns, lounge chairs and so on. One of us, not at liberty to say who, wore the complete set of Pro Combat gear, just in case the shopping crowd becomes unruly. Like trained Special Forces operators, we dispersed through key shopping locations and waited…and waited some more. The chaos that was to be, the raging hoard that was to come, the hair yanking middle age housewives, the fist throwing college grads, the cute kid with malicious intentions… were all gone? Instead, the anticlimactic Black Friday was one of well-behaved shoppers and UGG wearing tourists. And so, we retreated to more familiar ground, our office, and plotted our next step. While our Black Friday was a dud, merchandisers nevertheless geared up with high anticipation in mind. Slim Chin, the Beast from the Far East is back with a brand new remix. Another returnee is DeLorean, the star of Back to the Future trilogy, with brand new collabs. What it lacked in time travel ability, the 7-Series by Steinway Piano made up in embellishments and styles. But if practicality is what you are looking for, than the Chuck Taylor Duffle Coat may be just the holiday gift for you. So take a moment to digest that days-old stuffing your mother in-law made (taste like sawdust), cause the holiday shopping season just got started…

Freshness Week In Review: 27/09/2010 01/10/2010

As Blackberry RIM’s shared jumped 1.4 percent and the company attempts to scoop up a sizable share of the market, other labels keep up with the weather and continues to steam roll their way through Fall. has released information on a few notable collaborations, especially one with SB and another with Universal; Originals paged in the Force and Lord Vader once again, and pimped one of its rides for the world rally. Nike keeps on running with the girls, and paid attention to the little ladies as well; meanwhile, brings their folks from the streets to the Alpine Higher Than Hell, and G-Shock decides that it is not only protected against physical quakes, but is also able to deliver shocks of color without so much a tremor of uncertainty.

Freshness Week In Review: 7/12/2010 7/16/2010

Perhaps one of the biggest causes of celebration this week comes from the hopeful news of BP containing the ridiculous oil spill. Since Thursday, when new caps on the valves are closed, there has been no report of oil leaking into the Gulf anymore. Finally, an epic disaster comes to a seeming resolution. While exploring the concept of corporate responsibility, Philip Morris has been exposed to be using child laborers in Kazakhstan, giving non-smokers more reason to dislike the carcinogenic company. Perhaps, some Philip Morris consumers will be rallying for ethical smokes? Regardless, in a slightly more frivolous world of kicks and fashion, (and on a more lighthearted note) labels have been fulfilling their corporate duties by releasing first looks into next season’s collections. For instance, by Originals have finally dropped the looks that will be hitting racks in August and so did , and so on and so forth. Check out some key things that happened this week, and be sure you are staying on top of things!
