New York’s Mighty Healthy clearly subscribes to the notion that less is more. Their fall 2011 collection is tightly curated, composed of basics like hoodies, button-downs, tees, caps and beanies. Always fan favorites, the brand’s signature graphic T-shirts once again feature a witty play on iconic logos and slogans (along with a Diamond Supply collaboration thrown in for good measure). Civic pride is also a recurring theme, as city names are splashed on the front of various pieces throughout the assortment. Mighty Healthy and etnies Plus had joined forces this season to create a capsule collaborative collection of sneakers that are meant to be so versatile that they can be dressed up or dressed down depending on individual style, and hence, reflecting the New York sartorial sensibility. In Ray Mate’s own words, “European cities like Milan and Paris are well known for their distinctive style, unique culture, and world-renowned designers. When I think of New York, obviously architecture comes to mind, but also the inspiration and fashion found throughout the city. Here, some clothing brands and labels become brands simply through lifestyle. No one cares about brand names; their names are the brands.” The collaboration features two pairs of sneakers, a pair of “Califas” sneaker boots with a dressy tough edge, and a pair of low-top “Guild” in tan with brown accents. The Califas sneaker boot is meant to be a more utilitarian for the upcoming winter months in a mix of black suede and brown leather ankle. There is a good number of skateboarding game franchises out in the gaming world, such as the famed Tony Hawk franchise. But for skaters who are familiar with the mechanics of skateboarding, the reviews for simulation games are often less than satisfactory. Then in comes EA’s Skate franchise, which had a revolutionized analog system that some might find frustrating, but its authenticity and realism had won skateboarding gamers over. Playing into its famed and beloved realistic quality, the upcoming Skate 3 (set to release this May) not only has the falling and getting hurt part of skateboarding perfectly nailed to instill frustration, it has also incorporated actual skate gear one find in stores. Mighty Healthy has teamed up with Skate 3 and lent its button downs, tees and decks to the game. So, in the Skate 3 world, you are not only ollie-ing your way through a plethora of parks and landscapes, you can also put your avatar in some Mighty Healthy logo tees and gear. After claiming New York City and Philadelphia, Mighty Healthy just started off the month of April with its Deals and Steals Pop-Up Store, this time on the West Coast.  Right now, City of Angeles residents could enjoy MH items at sample sale pricing.  Better yet, instead of a “flight by night” arrangement, this shop will be open till end of April.  So take this opportunity to stop by and check it out all the sales and deals.  Mighty Healthy LA Pop-Up Store is going on now at Hall Of Fame on North Fairfax.

Think the fitted cap look is getting a little too urban for your summer outdoor romping needs, but are not a fan of the outdoor classic bucket hats? New York City’s Mighty Healthy has the right solution for the urbanites trying to bring a little outdoor style into their urban sensibility. The label has remixed the perennial street favorite, the 59Fifty Fitted, with outdoor details. The back of the fitted cap now sports interesting open compartments with wooden button details for an Americana exploration vibe. Forgo the straw hats and your regular 59Fifty Fitted and opt for something that will updated your plaid shirts, chinos shorts and boat shoes from last summer. The hat is now available in stores, but fishing gear is optional.

Spring anew as snow banks gave way to sunshine. It is also time to consider a fresh wardrobe for the new season. If you are in the market for something new, stop by Reed Annex this week as NYC original Mighty Healthy opened its bi-annual pop-up store past weekend. Armed with a saving of 50% or more, shoppers all could enjoy denims, flannel shirts, and of course, MH’s staple graphic t-shirt. But you much hurry, inventories are limited and the pop-up store will only open till this Sunday, March 14th.

New York City’s Mighty Healthy will be kicking off spring shopping with a Deals and Steals pop-up shop starting this Saturday. The pop-up shop will be carrying sample sale items at great prices that it will be a retail crime to miss out. Deals and Steals will be held at Lower East Side’s prime purveyor of coolness—Reedspace Annex. The pop-up shop will be going on for a week till March 14, so do take some time to swing by the shop before heading out for the night this weekend and get some spring shopping done!

Our friends over at Mighty Healthy will begin to release their new Spring 2010 Collection in the coming days and to provide a greater look into the collection they’ve put together this lookbook that features a number of their friends. The lookbook features a traditional grey background so that the attention can be diverted to the product and the fine detailing of each piece. The New York-based brand has expanded it’s collection to include a number of cut and sew pieces to go along with their various graphic t-shirts. Make sure you check out your local Mighty Healthy retailer soon to pick up the new Spring 2010 Collection.

Spring/Summer 2010 caps have dropped from Mighty Healthy and two out of the three new caps using the staple New Era 59FIFTY as a base and the last one gets a snapback treatment. MH Varsity II Cord switches up the colors on the classic design in black or navy/red combination. On top of that the visor is constructed with corduroy for added texture. The other New Era piece is The Marquee which we had posted earlier and this cap is constructed with Melton wool body matched with tan corduroy and embossed leather patch on the front. Last of the trio of the cap designs is the MH Shield snapback cap embroidered with a MH Shield logo over black, red or khaki body.

Mighty Healthy have produced couple of New Era 59FIFTY caps by the name of Marguee. At first glance the cap is a simple two tone piece that resemble classic outdoor style with a use of warm tones against light tan details. There are two choices of crown colors in navy or maroon that is made out of wool fabrics. Light tan corduroy fabric is used on the visor with a matching colored button on top and Mighty Healthy label on the front panel. New Era logo on the left is embroidered in tone on tone color blending into the crown.

New York City’s finest Mighty Healthy gave us a sneak peek into what to expect from the label dressed in a ever-so-slight dose of sarcastic Big Apple humor. For Spring 2010, it seems like we can still anticipate for what Mighty Healthy does mighty best– a solid collection of graphic tees and of course, denim to go with it. Going into greater detail, here is where baseball fans rejoice– do wait for a great line of baseball-inspired gear. The tees feature classic baseball type with cheeky slogans and graphics; think “Might Heavy Hitters”, baseballs staying cool in beanies and sunglasses, sitting atop the tagline “Chin Music”, and Uncle Sam as the favorite player. In terms of denim, three new models will be released– the slim fit Rocker and Leonard, and the regular fit Liston. Stay tuned and await the first Spring delivery from Mighty Healthy!

Coming up for spring from New York City’s Mighty Healthy is an international venture– the label will be launching a collaborative capsule collection with U.K. retailer, Garbstore. The collaboration combines philosophy of both labels and translate the fusion of the former’s “urban playground” vision with the latter’s penchant for the “unfamiliar vintage”. So far, the collection includes a line up of graphic tees that take a play on both label’s logos, sayings and vintage graphics.
