April 9th marked the official celebration of Nike TPE 6453′s One Year Anniversary and Just Do It 2010 Campaign. True to Chinese tradition, this is indeed a celebration of double happiness. Before a night of debauchery commenced alongside DJ Mick Boogie’s live session at Taipei’s nightlife destination, Luxy, a private event was held at TPE 6453 in the ever trendy Taipei East district. Nike TPE 6453 has been serving the Taiwanese population in Taipei for an entire year. Nike TPE 6453′s success attests to the Nike Taiwan Marketing Director Melvin Lenzy’s hardwork. It is an amazing feat for any venture to last this long in the current economic climate, but Nike Sportswear has exceeded expectations, outdone the economy and proved itself as a brand energy center and a community event space that the local community relate to and identify with. Nike TPE 6453 had housed several large campaigns and events such as the AW77 “This Is My Hood” Campaign and Nike Women Training Exhibition, and also the launch of the Just Do It 2010 Campaign.

It’s official! Nike TPE 6453 has been serving the Taiwanese population in Taipei for an entire year! First of all, a big congratulations to Nike Taiwan Marketing Director Melvin Lenzy for the success of Nike TPE 6453. It is an amazing feat for any retail space to last this long in the current economic climate, but Nike Sportswear has exceeded expectations, outdone the economy and proved that it is more than a retail space, but a community event space that the community relate and identify with. To celebrate the triumphant year where Nike TPE 6453 had housed several large campaigns and events such as the AW77 “This Is My Hood” Campaign and Nike Women Training Exhibition, and also the launch of the Just Do It 2010 Campaign, Nike TPE 6453 is hosting a One Year Anniversary Party at Luxy for all featuring renowned international DJ Mick Boogie.

Freshness is proud to announce a new segment that we’ve been excited to launch for a while—Fresh Music. We know there are many other blog sites and download hubs where you can get a hold of new music, but Freshness will bring you a more complete experience by surrounding the stories behind the music with historical context and rich visuals (we may have an exclusive or two up our sleeves as well). Our foray into Fresh Music features a new project by Mick Boogie, a mixtape DJ who now mans the decks for top shelf venues around the country. He gave us exclusive access to the mix, which we are co-sponsoring and presenting for you to download.

It has been a year since Nike opened up TPE 6453 (Nike Energy Space) in Taiwan. During which the space has not only been a house to purvey unique Nike goods for the local population. It also served as a host to events such as the AW77 campaign and the Women Training Exhibition. To celebrate a busy and fruitful year, the store will be hosting its One Year Anniversary party at Taipei’s nightlife destination, LUXY. Spinning at this event is none other than one of America’s most talented and in-demand DJs, Mick Boogie. Headlined at A-list events across the globe from Las Vegas, Paris, to Hong Kong, the NY-base DJ also spun at parties for renowned artists and celebrities such as Will Smith, Lebron James, Robin Thicke and more. The TPE 6453 One Year Anniversary Party will be held next month on April 9th, so check out the flyer (FREE Entry with flyer) and definitely make some time to drop by, enjoy some tunes, drinks and keep TPE 6453 going strong!

In Taiwan, working out and hitting the gym is a rather unfamiliar concept to many, and is not incorporated into the majority’s lives. There has always been a misconceived stigma that equates hitting the gym with body building, especially for girls, and Nike is setting out to change that. As such, Nike TPE 6453 is revolutionizing and rebranding exercising and giving it a modern edge women in Taipei can relate to. To promote healthy living and body image, Nike TPE has starting an eclectic mix of programs free for the public to sign up and participate. These training sessions include a training club, running club and dance, all enlisting the help of seasoned professionals to help women get acquainted and closer to the concept of exercising, thus enjoying that victorious moment when one has finally outdone oneself and overcome a physical barrier.
In accordance with the training initiative, Nike TPE 6453 is also hosting “Rock Victorious”, a women’s training exhibition featuring images and installations of budding Taiwanese tennis star, Kai-Chen Chang, Russian tennis sensation, Maria Sharapova, Swedish track and field star Susanna Kallur (competing in hurdles), and English soccer player, Lianne Sanderson. These images depict all ladies at their moments of victory with fantastical splendor, and are pictorial evidence of their accomplishments in their area of sporting expertise. The exhibition is held in hope to inspire and motivate women to train, exercise and simply revel in the joys of physical betterment. The Nike Women’s Training Programs are an ongoing project for 2010, and open to all for participation with reservations, and the exhibition is currently being held at TPE 6453 for all to enjoy. Start out 2010 anew with a new you, grab your Nike kicks and a towel, head out and start feeling better about yourself from inside out while savoring the sweetness of victory that can only be found in finishing that last mile.

Now, as in before, the goal was always task specific – how to best protect athletes from the changing weather? The solution came from Geoff Hollister, known as the 3rd Nike employee to be hired as well as the “Father of Nike Windrinner”. While in the midst of organizing a special training camp for Olympic hopefuls, the Athletics West, back in 1977. Hollister realized the effectiveness of a hooded sweatshirt. Hence, the birth of AW77 Hoodie.
Part of its global campaign for AW77‘s latest adaptation, the Loopwheel AW77 Hoodie, Nike along with Nike TPE 6453 event space in Taipei City will be hosting a special exhibition, This Is My Hood AW77, starting today. By utilizing over-sized abstract installations, Nike is able to convey the uniqueness of the Loopwheeler AW77 to the general public. The exhibition also highlight key elements found only on AW77 hoodie:
- Muti-functional Hoodie
- Knitted French terry interior with 480,000 loops
- Wind and water resistant
- Natural insulation
- Flatlocked and taped seams for a clean-finished interior
- Lightweight
The exhibition will be ongoing till XXX . Be sure to stop by and check out the festivities if you are in Taipei.

The IAM1 Journey – Taipei – After Party
In his own words, “It was NUTS”.
Last Thursday, Brooklyn’s finest DJ Clark Kent showed the folks in Taiwan what it’s like to get down Clark Kent style for The IAM1 Journey Taipei leg of the tour, celebrating the revolution of the evolution from Air Max to Air Maxim. After a bustling showcase of Air Max inspired work by various artists at TPE 6453, the party moved on over to Taipei’s LUXY to live up the rest of the night.

Those who joined Nike Sportswear on The IAM1 Journey in Taipei (including yours truly, Freshness) relived the evolution of Max to Maxim through the eyes of the artsits from Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. The artists showcased in this exhibition held at TPE 6453 included Phalan X Studio, Silly Thing, Alien, ANO and Lei Lei.

The IAM1 Journey is making its way over to Taipei whilst it takes us on a journey through time and technology, following the evolution of Air Max 1 from 22 years ago into Air Maxim1. To present this wondrous journey in a new light, Nike Sportswear had invited artists and designers from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to create a joint exhibition to narrate the path Air Max 1 had traveled. The participating artists include PhalanX Studio, ANO, Alien, Silly Thing and Lei Lei. Some of the mediums used to document and express the the legend of Air Max 1 include graffiti, installation art, vinyl toys and interactive installations.

After two very successful stops in London and Paris, Nike Sportswear’s IAM1 Journey promoting the Air Max family will be heading all the way to the other side of the globe and stopping in Taipei, Taiwan.
For the Taiwan leg of the journey, Nike Sportswear’s TPE 6453 has invited various artists such as PhalanX Studio, Silly Thing from Hong Kong, Alie Huang Hong Sheng and Lei Lei to reinterpret the classic Air Max from 1987. The journey will showcase these artists work in different medium to shed some new light and perspective on the journey Air Max had traveled since it was first created by Tinker Hatfield in the late 80s
