Onitsuka Tiger Teikyu OG LE

As one of Japan’s oldest shoe companies, Onitsuka Tiger has an extensive product history to draw from. The brand has reached far back into its archive for its latest release, the refashioned Teikyu tennis shoe from the early 1970s. Lightweight and featuring a classic low top lace-up profile, the shoe is adorned with decorative stitching on the quarter panel and a white rubber toe cap for reinforced durability. It’s available in either black or beige colorways, the former crafted from leather with white contrast stitching, the latter carrying a tonal upper in a combination of leather and suede. Vulcanized rubber outsole and logo heel tab round out the details. Both colorways of the Teikyu OG LE are available for pre-order through mita sneakers.

Onitsuka Tiger Kamogutsu

Onitsuka Tiger created the Kamogutsu based on the shoes worn by players of the traditional Japanese game of Kemari. Kemari is a soccer-like team game, requiring players to compete for how many times a leather ball can be kicked up in the air. These sneakers are a refreshing offering from , as they are designed completely from scratch, combining traditional style with their shoe-making technology. Suede leather is used on the toe section, created out of one piece of leather to achieve a sleek form. From there on, the rest of the sneaker features contrasting ripstop material layered on top. Faux fur inner lining keeps the feet warm and two sets of shoe laces are packaged with this footwear. nano universe is currently taking pre-orders on their ZOZOTOWN online store.

Koi Klub x Onitsuka Tiger X Caliber

Koi Klub is a monthly club night created by Berlin based Yosuke Nishiumi, who was born in Japan. In the past, ASICS have teamed up with Koi Klub on various projects and now their latest footwear is available for the world. An 80′s classic model, X-Caliber, was selected as a base and two versions have been produced using denim as the key fabric. Each sneaker comes with three sets of dip dyed shoe laces and suede parts on the toe and heel contrasts the raw denim uppers. Another interesting feature of the sneaker is the Japanese characters ‘故意’ which reads Koi and means intentional in English. Koi does have other meanings including love and to get near. Both of these sneakers are available at end clothing in UK and other participating retailers world wide.

Onitsuka Tiger Indigo Backpack & Waistbag
Onitsuka Tiger is making a strong foray into apparel and accessories this season. The classic footwear maker is sticking with a very strong indigo denim theme, which can be seen across a number of garments and shoes, and also on the interesting backpack and waistbag seen here. The backpack is modeled on the extremely popular classic mountaineering design, which seems to be a must this year – it’s a flap top bag, with compression straps and extra pockets. The waist bag is also quite the emerging trend; a number of Japanese labels are including what is pejoratively referred to as the “fanny pack.” Onitsuka updates it with a fuller, more rugged silhouette. Both bags are done in an attractive deep indigo denim, and feature nice chocolate leather bottoms; the aesthetic appeal is cemented together though by the white accents: seen in edge piping, zippers, and compression straps. A really interesting and successful attempt at bridging the mountaineering equipment and workwear trends. Both pieces are available now from SNS. Check out images of both bags after the jump.

Onitsuka Tiger Fall/Winter 2010 Tsuri Collection

Don’t be so quick to dismiss this as “just another plaid”, because frankly speaking, those in tune with the Japanese culture, and well, sushi and fish, might get a little bit offended. For the directional and more stylistic Fall/Winter 2010 collection from Onitsuka Tiger, the label had adopted a “Katsuo Plaid Pattern” for apparel and accessories. “Katsuo” refers to the Skipjack tuna, and the plaid pattern had been derived from the stripes found on the underbelly of the fish. The pattern was previously debuted in a teaser created by Savants Collective, and the collection is now available for purchase at select retailers such as The Good Will Out.

Onitsuka Tiger Fall/Winter 2010 Tsuri Collection | Video

In a beautiful Japanese countryside graced by the reds of fall, rays of low light from a lovely fall sunset danced across a lake of fish, and origami plaid butterflies leaps across the screen. It is in this beautiful backdrop in which and visual artists, Savants Collective present ’s Tsuri Collection. The new collection is based on the Katsuo plaid pattern (inspired by the stripes on the belly of tuna fish) used in the Fall/Winter 2010 collection, and the gorgeous mix of 2D and 3D graphics tells a story of lake fishing and Japanese tradition. Little miniature handmade sculptures of man fishing adds to the complexity and depth of an incredibly imaginative tale. Even without shoes in the short film, we are already sold.

Onitsuka Tiger Fall/Winter 2010 Look Book by Openers

Onitsuka Tiger is all about power this season. For its Fall/Winter 2010 look book shoot, the Openers and crew took their items to the ring and accessorized the predominantly basic collection of graphic tees, hoodies and shorts rendered in simple black, white and greys with gloves, cuffs, and everything that looks tough. While the collection is easily wearable, some interesting pieces popped up such as a pair of bondage running leggings with a mesh panel knee and what looks like a slinky black nylon track suit with shorts. The footwear though, are quite colorful in monochrome as we have spotted a pair of golden slip-ons and some low-top lace-up sneakers in bright monochromes.via: Openers
