Knowing exactly when and where to add that extra bit to make a perfect shoe, Ronnie Fieg has created another number that will certainly steal the spotlight this coming Black Friday. Exactly a year ago, Ronnie Fieg and Polo Ralph Lauren Footwear joined forces to release the limited Ranger “Cookie” Boot, leather boots crafted with a tint of “urban” edge. Once again Fieg works with Ralph Lauren to bring us another magnificent product of their collaboration, the Burnt Red Ranger. Just as the name, the boots are designed in Burnt Red leather uppers without making it look worn, but more aged in a classy and mature manner. The boots also feature a rugged outsole, along with matching leather laces. This bold look is one that Polo Ralph Lauren has not dabbled in before, but it will sure make a shining statement as you strut down the winter streets in them. The Burnt Red Ranger is not only individualistic, but a limited Ranger release as well. Get ready because these boots will be available for $140 exclusively at the David Z flagship in New York and online at Davidz.com this Friday at 10 am.

With a few more hours to go before a facebook attempts to revolutionize the Internet again (with a new full-service email launch), it seems as though next week promises everything great to happen in the world. But before we leap into the unknowns of facebook email, and try to deal with facebook’s gradual take over of our social lives as well as inbox, let’s recap all things great and small which happened this week. In New York City, Supreme has finally released its first fresh collaborative shoe (a brand new model) with Nike, and Kid Cudi held an impromptu performance at BAPE Store New York, which would have almost erupted into another riot. Meanwhile, moving uptown, Ralph Lauren closed off a block around its mansion and put on a spectacular light show in celebration of its 10 years in digital experience, and another American great, Levi’s opened up a fresh concept store in the chic nightcrawler’s favorite Meatpacking District. TRON: Legacy continues to command our attention with new trailers and new boots, and last but not least, GQ shared a great insider look at what happened behind the scenes of its recent controversial shoot with the Gleekers.

Opinions about the iPad’s status as the top portable web access portal are still mixed. But one thing everyone can agree on is that it provides a fantastic new showcase for a huge number of fashion houses – not with apps, but with cases and covers for the device. Ralph Lauren could never overlook this opportunity, and has jumped in with an iPad case of it’s own. Crafted in smooth calfskin covered in a traditional Tartan plaid, this is one iPad cover that offsets the device’s hi-tech image. The cover sports an embossed RL logo on the back, and makes concessions to protection and usability, with light padding and a built-in iPad stand. Available at Ralph Lauren.

Even 18 hours after its debut, fashion journalists, bloggers, and affiliated media outlets are still talking about the extravaganza that took place last evening at Ralph Lauren‘s Rhinelander Mansion flagship store – the world’s first 4-Dimensional Experience. It was a celebration of innovation juxtaposed with a clear homage to traditions, or as Ralph Lauren official press release billed as “A Historic Fusion of Art, Fashion, and Technology”. In part, the event was capture the essences of what Ralph Lauren’s been doing the last 4 decades, ever pushing the boundaries be it in fashion, merchandising, marketing, and etc… Assisting in this vision is a younger Lauren, Ralph’s son David, who made it imperative to full embrace the new digital realm, like last evening presentation with the usage of architectural mapping in celebration of the 10 years RalphLauren.com been in operation. All credits, however, still have their roots with elder Lauren, who realized the untapped potential before any other luxury labels. To see the last night’s presentations at New York City and London in their entirety, see the videos after the jump.

BLENDS, the designated retailer of cool in California, is drawing the consumer’s attention back to basic, good ol’ American production in the age where it seems like everything is outsourced and made in China. As a part of the retailer’s Blends Made In USA project, the retailer teamed up with RRL from the quintessential American fashion house, Ralph Lauren, to create a pair of limited edition, ultra-luxe, super tough selvage denim.
While images of upper-crust, Ivy League fraternity boys frolicking in critter khakis, bright polo shirts with disheveled curls tucked non-nonchalantly under faded baseball caps often leap into mind at the mention of Ralph Lauren, the label’s RRL line is far from the preppy cry. RRL is the rugged, western flick, cowboy-inspired line that seems to suit the Malboro man more than the Harvard rower. Brazenly charming, the line carries vintage flannel shirts that are decidedly wrinkled and an array of cowboy boots for every occasion. The focal point of the label lies in their sartorial tapestry of distressed, deliberately stained and artfully tattered, worn-in jeans in a kaleidoscope of washes.
Although RRL is known for their masculine, shaggy denim, the collaboration with BLENDS brings a new definition of clean, urban edge to denim. These extremely limited black selvage slim-fit denim are crafted from sturdy, rigid selvage denim sourced from Japan’s famed denim locale of Okayama, then manufactured in Polo’s US manufacturing facility. The jeans may be clean, dark, seductive and fitted slim as of other urban denim creations, but the RRL touch lies in the selvage which was selected in redolence of the vintage American biker style. Added vintage details such as the use of five different threads and hidden rivets in back pockets further pushes the RRL agenda for American style.
The limited edition selvage denim release this coming Saturday on Jan. 23 will kick of BLENDS’ Made In USA campaign, bringing pride and attention back to American workers and production. The denim are individually numbered and comes in a run of 50, so if you are hoping to cope a pair, drop by BLENDS, or get in touch with the BLENDS crew via: phone or email.

Just like everything in the world, there are boon and bane to one of the marvels of modern technology– online shopping. Sure, shopping online is handy over the holiday season as it eliminates the hassle of standing in strenuous lines at the cashier, fighting soccer moms lurking malls for that last $20 cashmere sweater, and the disappointment of not locating your holy grail. However, online shopping is often a flat and tepid experience especially when it comes to apparel. There’s no way of trying on an item before purchase, and the multiple zooms and angled looks don’t quite do the items (nor your wallet) justice.
Ralph Lauren Rugby has been an enthusiastic advocate of personalized services for its customers, and thus tailors their products and shopping tools to this effect. Remember the “Rugby Make Your Own” iPhone app which allows you to customize polo shirts with customization patches on your iPhone? This time around, Rugby aims to revolutionize the online shopping experience not with mobile apps but a new online “Make Your Own” Ralph Lauren Rugby Fashion Show. Taking the shopping experience to the 3D level, visitors can create their own fashion shows by dragging looks onto a tool bar, select their favorite tracks (by fresh artists such as the White Lies and Amanda Blanks) for the runway and view their own shows immediately. Check how that plaid coat sways with the body during walks, how the jacket falls comfortably on the shoulders and of course, how the looks would work on a real person–which are rather impossible to do through 2D photographs no matter how wonderful the photography. After getting a better feel of the items, visitors can purchase their favorite pieces immediately via: the “buy-now” option and share it with friends and family via: social networking tools like Twitter and Facebook.
Take a stab at directing your own show this season with all the fun and none of the stress and hassle, and of course, experience a new kind of online shopping that will surely put that “Closer Looks” button on other sites to shame.

Ronnie Fieg, the chief buyer and designer of retailer, David Z., has collaborated with the all-American Polo Ralph Lauren to create a limited edition Ranger “Cookie” Boot geared to release this Black Friday. The Ranger”Cookie” Boot a tough grey number crafted with a leather upper and a buckled strap across the body for an added urban touch. For the campaign photo shoot, Fieg enlisted the help of some friends who are also iconic characters in the industry such as Marcus Troy, emmeka Obi of 10Deep, Joshua Kissi from Street Etiquette, Irving Jemenez of Creative Recreation, Sean Muro of Public School and Niyah Kerr of David Z, to star in the photo shoot donning the fresh boots. Check out the photoshoot for some styling tips (though with a versatile number like this, inspiration is probably a plus rather than a necessity) and save the date on Black Friday for a good pair of boots to last through the winter ahead. The kicks will be available exclusively on DavidZ.com on Nov. 27th.

No wonder the French does have a better sense of style. This new France exclusive sweater from the diffusion line of American heritage collegiate label, Rugby by Ralph Lauren, is proof that the French achieves that adorable whimsical preppy style with a punch easier than those on the stateside. This green woolen pullover is not your grandmother’s knits and neither is it something you will pull out from a thrift store. The classic crewneck pullover sweater featuring what seems like vintage holiday embroidery is actually some badass skull graphics in disguise (skulls also being Rugby’s trademark logo). Pack the skulls and crossbones right between the snowflakes and you get yourself an edgier Christmas gear. Perhaps Santa would approve. This is now available for order via: colette.
Rugby by Rugby Ralph Lauren catered to the minds of the collegiate, serving hip doses of prep that is edgier than traditional but still classic in various plaid and critter designs. The rock-and-roll Ivy League style of The Skulls proved itself to be very popular among college students and some even after graduation. Recently picked up by colette, the label’s footwear line for Fall/Winter 2009 gets a little inspirational doses not just from the heritage America but also the Native Americans. Included in the release are outdoor boots with a plaid upper marked by leather accents, topped with a water-resistant toe; also, the suede fringed ankle shoes, which reminds us very much of visvim’s Maliseet Elk Folk from this coming season, prove to be a fun variation from the collegiate inspired gear. A little dose of moccasin and work boots, Rugby is outdoor ready for fall and not just for the football field. Both shoes are now available online at colette.

Alright, it’s February, we’re getting close to official “ditch the winter beaters” day. Before you know it, it’ll be all sunglasses all the time- and what better to pair with some shades and shorts than the summer staple of canvas kicks. Polo slips in the game, no pun intended, with a pair of laceless cap toes that melds the Converse All Star slip-on with the PUMA El Ray. Neither of those models are exactly anyone’s favorites, but together, and under the Polo umbrella, it makes for a very decent summer design, especially coming in at only $55.
