Aside from the growing rumors on Wu-Tang Clan‘s yet-to-be announced album, hip-hop’s original musical collective unleashed new skate decks line via its Wu-Tang Limited brand. The way RZA, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and the rest of the Clan saw much similarities between hip-hop and skateboarding’s progressions, first as a grassroot culture before mainstream acceptance. That semblance continues on today. Limited in production, each board is made locally in New York by the one and only Chapman Skateboards. Available in the coming weeks at select Wu-Tang Limited retailers.
Protect ya neck? Rocksmith and Wu-Tang Limited want to protect your noggin, having gotten together to produce a limited edition capsule collection of headwear. The assortment is made up of a several snapback styles as well as a camp cap, each inspired by the logos and iconography of New York City, as well as the U.S. Olympic basketball team from 1992 that many considered a dream. Can it be that it was all so simple then? Look for the collection to drop soon at select retailers.

This week has been slightly crazed at the Freshness office because New York City has been hopping this week. First, (capsule) and Agenda has our calendars filled with Spring/Summer 2011 previews, not to mention a great roof top party to wrap things up with. Then, we learned that Andy Warhol has once bought 2,000 bottles of Dom Perignon with a group of friends. Lindsay Lohan manages to score some cover time prior to jail time; and speaking of time, some people has proven that given enough time and dedication (17 months to be exact) you can become Daft Punk. Aside from this, Nike wrapped things up for World Cup and released what looks like a resolution video, headline–”The Future Has Been Written”. Last but not least, we had a chance to hang out with the Manchester City boys at Sarah D. Roosevelt park for a quick Thursday afternoon soccer pick up, and then Saturdays on Crosby gets a little crowded with Quiksilver and National Forest’s launch. Check out the full scope of a busy week, as we are about to leave summer behind and head into the end of glorious summer days and hell-bent, relentless heat in the giant oven known as New York City.
There are throw pillows and then there are these, the sensual satin pillows from ROCKSMITH with the unmistaken-able images from photographer Yasumasa Yonehara (or simply known as Yone). Part of ROCKSMITH’s Holiday 2010 Collection, the Satin Throw Pillows come in 2 variations with only 150 made for each. Both will also be an extension of the photo project ROCKSMITH has with Yone and to be follow up with the full pictorial of the 2 models in Spring 2011 as limited edition t-shirts.
In every design, there is a story to be told. After a few years running on the theme of “New Money”, an expression more inclined to the description of revamping status quo, clothier ROCKSMITH will unleash a new theme this Fall, Militia. As Erik from ROCKSMITH explained, it wasn’t about price point, market share, or consumer demographics. Instead, it was telling a new store with design. As the name suggested, the ROCKSMITH Militia Line will be more of a military inspired, in patterns, colorways, and silhouettes. Otherwise, the collection will be available at the same price point as with the New Money Collection. One other intriguing product is the ROCKSMITH Varsity Jacket. Constructed in Melton Wool and premium leather sleeve with the exception of 1 twist in true ROCKSMITH fashion – the double-breasted placket on front. And like the fine men’s suiting itself, the jacket’s fit is also more conformed, though not enough to be uncomfortable. ROCKSMITH Fall/Winter Collection will begin to arrive at retailers in the coming months.
A lightweight Boss Rock Jacket have just dropped from ROCKSMITH. It takes a varsity jacket styling yet utilizes chambray material that would be perfect for the current transition weather. It features the classic ROCKSMITH logo on the back in simple two tone while the left front chest is detailed with large R graphic. Ribbing is constructed in stripes consisting of triple tone that compliments the whole jacket. There are two colorways produced in red and navy with exterior using cotton fabric and inner lining is constructed out of smooth polyester. Matching snap buttons accents the front opening and two side pockets complete the front view.
ROCKSMITH has dropped a new design, the Sapporo Zip Hoodie, for its Spring/Summer 2010 collection. The Sapporo Zip Hoodie is a well crafted piece which takes inspiration and design elements from zip-up hooded leather jackets. Like the hooded leather jackets, the Sapporo Zip Hoodie comes with two snap-button chest pockets, side pockets and is adorned with pleated detailing down front zipper. The back of the hoodie has also been redesigned to include pleats and reinforced shoulder panels to mimick hooded leather jackets. To reinforce the remixed biker jacket theme, sleeves and hem ribbing have also been sectioned off. While this jacket is extremely detailed, the hoodie is kept clean and understated in a monochrome grey. It is now available online at essence!

Directed by Lazio Jefferson, ROCKSMITH‘s new video lookbook for Fall 2009 highlights the sights and sounds of Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Titled Undisputed and featuring William Shamar Whitt, the NY Golden Gloves Boxing Champ who also hailed from Brooklyn. The 1-minute short hinted upcoming releases from ROCKSMITH, including several caps created in conjunction with New Era. This include the New Money EDU design, a Brooklyn Loc’ Cap, said to be inspired by Easy-E’s Compton Cap, and the Slumdog Fitted. A subsequent launch of ROCKSMITH Fall/Holiday 2009 Collection will begin in the coming weeks and last till end of the year. Be on the lookout for them at your retailers near you.
A return to the year 1991, when comedy troupe In Living Color was on TV and Black Sheep’s The Choice Is Yours flooded the airwave. The second portion of ROCKSMITH Spring 2009 invokes the early 90s nostalgia when a renew interest in America’s urban culture was taking place. To highlight elements of the collection, ROCKSMITH commissioned the help of The Amount Boyz, the NYC-base dance crew previously featured with Madonna, Rhianna, and more… Aside from the 90s reference-driven graphics, several new items of the collection include Warbucks Embroidered Shorts, Terry Cloth Humpty Polo Shirt, and a sneak peek of ROCKSMITH’s yet to release Back To School Denim & Camouflage Pants. The second delivery of ROCKSMITH Spring 2009 will arrive at retailers in the coming weeks.
