
At the moment, the FUTURA LABORATORIES retail store in Fukuoka, Japan is under renovation and the reopening is scheduled for Friday, September 9th. To coincide with the reopening, FUTURA LABORATORIES have reached out to fellow Japanese brand SAGLIFE for a limited edition Messenger Pouch. The jet black bag is printed with a matte black FUTURA logo on the cover flap and the signature SAGLIFE logo on the bottom. Opening the cover reveals complex silver graphics on the inner lining by none other than FUTURA. Black mesh compartments provide extra storage space and FUTURA LABORATORIES woven label can be found on the bag opening. This item is only available from the FUTURA LABORATORIES store and pre-order can be made on their online shop right now.

Japanese accessories maker SAGLIFE is set to release a completely new collection, the Italy Camo. Made of durable, water resistant Cordura and based on military fabric used by the Italian Army, the collection includes all of SAGLIFE’s models. There is the Air Force 1, Megatron, Reaper, Monolith in the backpack range, plus Messenger Bags in four different sizes, all adorned in the unique camouflage patterns. The Air Force One is one of the top sellers in SAGLIFE‘s product range and it’s popularity is attributed to its large capacity and ruggedness. It was also the original action sport backpack that featured the roll top enclosure system, which had been imitated by many brands. A new Teal and White color scheme has just arrived at Chari & Co. It is water resistant and works well for messengers or snowboarders as well as for short trips interstate. Reflective tape on the front provide extra safety and clear compartment next to it can house stickers or flyers, making customization easy. To reduce the burden on the wearer, thick mesh padding is applied on the shoulder pads and back for comfort and ventilation.

It’s been another busy week of collaborations, art, design, cars, shoes, and everything else that makes up our world. We can’t touch on everything here, but here’s a recap of a few of the bigger stories of the week. First off, the trailer for the soon-to-be-released Freshness-exclusive mini-documentary The Three Kings was released this week. Supreme also made news, with the release of a suit done in collaboration with Adam Kimmel (and announcing a Japan benefit T-Shirt). And in Miami, sneaker boutique Sole Fly featured an in-store event with legendary Jordan designer Tinker Hatfield, which was a testament to the man’s integral role in sneaker culture. In other Nike news – from the SB department – was the release of the new Eric Koston One, in three colors. And from the Sportswear division, Nike unveiled a remodel of the Bowery Stadium space into an installation devoted to the 1970′s era basketball, titled the Spirit of 73. An interesting collaboration between bagmaker SAGLIFE and FUTURA was announced this week too, drawing on the artist’s history with cycling culture. And arguably the most notable bag collection this week came as part of the new Indigo capsule collection from Onitsuka Tiger, which includes two beautiful bags. Takashi Murakami, who has transcended categorization as simply an artist, was the subject of a new vinyl figure done by sneaker artist Mike Leavitt. And finally, Freshness covered the opening event of the newest visvim F.I.L. location in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, which showcased the store’s artfully done buildout, as well as the attendees and new product. FUTURA LABORATORIES and SAGLIFE got together once again and this time they are releasing a three bag capsule collection. As this is their second collaboration project, it encompasses the two staple bags from SAGLIFE, Monolith backpack and medium Messenger Bag, and a Mobile Case that can be attached to the two bags. All bags are unified by the use of black synthetic suede exterior material and vivid red details on the zippers. SAGLIFE is bringing out the Reaper, a new backpack style for 2011 and it is a family of bags in six colors, Black, Burgundy, Blue, Turquoise, Pink and Blacknoir. Simple design makes this backpack versatile for all occasions from the streets to schools and for light traveling. Exterior is constructed out of 500D Cordura nylon and this material is seven times tougher than standard nylon. One small compartment is equipped on the exterior and there is a zip that runs from top to bottom on each side of the bag for easy access. By lending each other’s expertise, skate shop FTC and accessories maker SAGLIFE, best known for its durable messenger bags, designed the 3-Layer Mountain Jacket. Based on their experiences with both skateboarding and fixed gear riding, the 3-Layer Mountain Jacket addresses common for both rider types. The silhouette is proportional so it won’t constrict movements. Easy access pockets for quick stowaway during ride, plus taped inner seams to keep wearer warm and dry. Reflective logos on front with large d-ring loops for cellphone or walkie-talkie, the FTC x SAGLIFE 3-Layer Mountain Jacket comes in the traditional black along with aquamarine and purple. SAGLIFE have supported many action sports scenes with their products, that are innovative and functional. Hence their recent collaboration with Japanese skateboard shop instant does not come as a surprise. The Talon skateboard bag is a multi functional bag that serves primarily as a skateboard bag, however it can also be turned into a small backpack. Two types of straps, shoulder bag style and backpack style, are prepared to enable flexibility for the users. For the promotion of the newly developed bag, SAGLIFE have gotten together some of their sponsored skateboarders and fixed gear riders to show case the functionality of the bag in a video format. SAGLIFE, also known simply as SAG, has undoubtedly changed the action sport bag and accessories game by dropping highly functional and durable products. There are plenty of imitators out there but you just can’t beat the quality of the original SAG items. Unlike many brands out there, SAG takes time to review their products often and makes improvements and amendments so that the customers get the best out of each product. Fixed gear bicycle and skateboard store in Tokyo, JAN, has teamed up with bag and cases brand SAGLIFE on a new Taranis backpack. The preview of the bag can be seen on this promotional video, and the video showcases the capabilities of the backpack. It is a multipurpose bag that can fit a camera and electronic equipment, as well as safely fasten a skateboard for transit. As demonstrated in the video, it would be a good item to use for those who travel around often with their skateboard. Japanese extreme sports bag brand SAGLIFE is known for its high quality and functional bags and accessories. But, the label does produce limited number of apparel that are manufactured with the same demand for quality in mind. Such case is this Cell Phone Pants made in conjunction with workwear heavyweight Dickies. The ordinary chino pants have been given the SAGLIFE touch with extra pin stripe on the sides, and multi-purpose pocket on the side of the right leg near the knee. This pocket can hold cell phones, MP3 players and small gadgets which will be handy for active individuals. Online store STLESS on the Japanese shopping network ZOZOTOWN got together with bag specialist SAGLIFE to produce custom designed messenger bag in medium size. The unisex messenger bag is black in color and highlighted by leopard pattern in key areas. On the exterior, the leopard pattern is only seen under the bag on the SAGLIFE logo. However looking inside the bag, the fabric choice is reversed with majority of the surface dominated by leopard pattern. These items are scheduled for early December release with pre-order available from STLESS from early August.
