While many streetwear brands are embracing the Americana styles, SSUR and Caviar Cartel are keeping it very Russian and gangster. The very graphic heavy t-shirts are part of the Summer 2011 collection and it takes us back to the simplicity of streetwear from the 90′s. In total there are 10 designs to choose from and each design comes in at least two colorways, ranging from black, white, gray and red, which makes the decision process even more difficult. All of the pieces are currently available at SSUR stockists nationwide and around the globe. via: hayabusa.bz

Some BE@RBRICK collaboration rely on name recognition, and not every artist’s style or work translates well to the vinyl toy medium. But the artistic style of Ruslan Karablin – aka SSUR – works perfectly for this 400% BE@RBRICK figure. The Odessa, Ukraine born Karablin has been creating art projects and products since 1990, when he launched his first line of T-Shirts. While long based in New York, the designer retains a strong sense of classic Eastern European art, imagined through his 100% New York eyes. His signature style evokes Delft pottery and 18th and 19th century Russian pottery, updated with an undeniable street art perspective. The Be@rbrick he designed for MEDICOM TOY is a classic SSUR design: white base, overlaid with his blue penwork and tattoo-inspired imagery and gold accents. The piece come in a fully decorated collectors box too. Check out the images after the jump. This is a definite hit for any BE@RBRICK fans from Brighton Beach. Available now at Caliroots.

Los Angeles-based brand, The Hundreds, are getting ready to expand their retail operations to the east coast, specifically New York City and to celebrate the occasion they have collaborated with SSUR on a couple limited edition t-shirts that will be sold exclusively at the new The Hundreds New York flagship store, scheduled to open in the upcoming week. SSUR is the brand from arsist Ruslan Karablin who most recently collaborated with Converse on a First String Pro Leather 76 Hi. Stay tuned for more information regarding the opening of the new The Hundreds New York space.

Like everything he does, artist Ruslan Karablin likes to be low key about it. Better known as SSUR, Karablin might be the last few bastions who propagate the true conviction of what street art is. It isn’t about self-promotion or the fame plus fortune, which usually follow. Instead, it is a pure of self-expression, or to raise the volume on social grievances mainstream media deemed unimportant. And though the neighborhood, the art, the culture, and etc…have all changed. SSUR was one who stayed the course through the thick and thin the past 15 years. In honor of that unyielding spirit, footwear label CONVERSE designed a special Pro Leather 1976 Model for the artist, set to release this weekend.
This SSUR x CONVERSE Pro Leather 76 Hi is a throwback to the urban street ball classic that first appeared in 1976. Known as Russ to his friends, the collaborative Pro Leather 76 Hi is in tonal black colorway, a signature theme of SSUR. A handsome appointment of premium suede upper with perforated Star Chevron, CONVERSE’s classic logo. A hint of its eminence from other CONVERSE sneakers, a metallic gold lace tab in the form of a shark tooth dominated the visual presence on the sneaker’s front while a gold embossed skull and cross bones, another SSUR signature, occupied the heel tabs on the back.
Like previous collaborations, CONVERSE will put out a limited number of pairs to select retailers, such as UNDFTD and SSUR’s own store around SoHo NYC. Set to release tomorrow, August 20th.
Style: 117976
Color: Black/Gold
Release Date: August 20th (Tomorrow!)

DC Shoes and SSUR are back at it again with an even more stunning pair of sneakers than the previous collaboration project. The latest from the DC Shoes Double Label Project is the new versions of the Caviar Cartel series models. Two colorways are produced to reflect the theme of the series with red version inspired by the USSR and black version depicting the caviar itself. Silky smooth nubuck is chosen for the uppers giving it a premium feel accompanied by Caviar Cartel logo and shark logo printed in clear varnish on the heel sections. Contrasting inner lining, shoe laces and soles complete the footwear that fans would appreciate. These are scheduled to be released around early August and Kinetics in Tokyo are currently taking pre-orders.
