Before the influx of customization programs, skaters had to improvised on their own. This meant peel-apart, cutting-up, and tape-down, all to get the desirable fit. So in the tradition of skaters and the 20th anniversary of the VANS Half Cab skate shoes, VANS will drop an exclusive Half Cab each month of this year. To get things started, VANS went back to the origin of it all with skater Steve Caballero. Along with retailer Supreme, a set of 20 exclusive VANS Half Cab High will be hand-cut and duct-taped Caballero himself, just like how it was 20 years ago. Each individually numbered and signed by Caballero as well, the Supreme x VANS Half Cab – 20th Anniversary Edition will be available at Supreme locations exclusively.

If there ever was a quintessential streetwear brand, then Supreme is it. Despite founder James Jebbia’s longstanding rejection of that category, the label has been a model within the industry, maintaining the uber-cool aesthetic that emanated from their roots on Lafayette during their nearly two-decades of global prominence. Yet despite their obvious importance and influence within the culture, the behind the scenes info has been kept to a minimum thanks to Jebbia’s weariness to dilute the mystique that has always been part of the Supreme appeal. The latest in the small list of folks who have managed a sit down interview with the man is Alex Hawgood, who breaks open a bit more of the background in his piece Inside Supreme: Anatomy of a Global Streetwear Cult. The two part story gets at the mind behind the brand, and is a must-read for anybody who has ever ogled a piece of box logo laden apparel. Follow us after the jump for some images from the Supreme lineage and check out Part 1 and Part 2 over at The Business of Fashion.

As if to cap off the year, Supreme released what could be its last product for 2011 this morning, the Moleskin Camp Cap. Comes in dark red, black, and green, all three are now available at Supreme locations in New York, Los Angeles, London, and its retail outlets in Japan. The caps are also available online at Supreme’s web store.

A rare occurrence happened this morning. Instead of a galore of merchandise updates through its online store, the New York-base label Supreme only had one, its Waffle Knit Camp Cap. Made cotton twill in that distinctive grid-like pattern, this knit camp cap addresses your need this weekend as you head to the great outdoor for that last outing of the year. And while it is the only new product available this week from Supreme. There are plenty of selection for your last minute holiday shopping online and Supreme’s retail locations worldwide.

We all heard of TGIF. But fans of New York retailer Supreme go by TGIT instead for another round of unique releases like the new Supreme x Timberland Euro Hiker Pack. By now it should be a routine. As with every Thursday mornings in the past, Supreme unveils another special product for fans to salivate over. Introducing the Supreme x Nike SB 94 for 2011, its take on classic basketball sneakers with a blend of Nike SB skateboarding functionality. In comparison to last year’s model, the alterations to its silhouette is minute if not noticeable. Changes, however, come in the forms of a nubuck suede upper (rather than premium leather) and the addition of a Foamposite-base molded heel cup. Available in either black or wheat, the collaboration is now available at Supreme retail locations in London, New York, Los Angeles, and its online store.

Following its inauguration last Fall, designers from Supreme and Nike SB overhauled the Supreme Nike SB 94 for this year. While relatively the same on appearance, the 2011 edition of this special collab take its original basketball sneakers influence a bit further with the incorporation of Nike Foamposite material as the heel cup. Instead of premium leather, as with last year’s models, the 2011 models will feature premium nubuck suede and a gum rubber sole. To be available in Wheat/Metallic Copper Foamposite and Black/Black Foamposite, both Supreme exclusives will be for sale this Thursday, November 10th, at Supreme retail locations in New York, Los Angeles, London, and online. Releases at Supreme’s locations in Japan to follow on Saturday, November 12th. It looks like the 2011 holiday shopping season just got its start early…
