Japanese street-style magazine Samurai has gotten together with Swagger on a capsule collection built with a strong foundation of casual menswear essentials and accessories imprinted – both literally and figuratively — with the Swagger trademark. There are denim woven shirts finished with colorful paisley trim and the Swagger logo in tonal block letters across the back, plus matching denim shorts with identical design elements in the same relaxed silhouette. The recurring paisley motif appears on a logo pocket tee in white and navy colorways, as well as the requisite accessories program made up of snapback cap, tote bag and bandana. Over the years, the SWAGGER brand has evolved from being purely streetwear brand into a hybrid menswear brand. As SWAGGER grew as a brand, founder and designer Hidehiro ‘IGGY’ Iguchi started to explore different avenues, thus conceptualizing SWG Black Platinum label. In essence, it is the bigger brother of SWAGGER and its collection shows a mature style heavily influence from vintage, work and military styles. Their Spring/Summer 2012 collection have just launched and its first delivery is scheduled to arrive this Saturday, January 14th. All of these items will be available exclusively at SWAGGER stores Japan wide and the c.i.y. by SWAGGER online store on ZOZOTOWN.

SWAGGER had been busy recently implementing collaboration projects and the latest partnership comes courtesy of Lee. The capsule collection is entitled The Number, which takes inspiration from vintage Lee jackets and jeans. These items can be worn as a set up or on their own. Each piece is packed with details that would make any vintage denim fans excited. Around the mid 1940′s Lee developed this 101 J jacket to cater for cowboys and rodeo riders. Furthermore, this particular brass colored, button top design is taken from post 1946 vintage pieces and this iconic jacket was seen on Steve McQueen as well. The 101 B jeans is made using selvedge denim and it is detailed by the same accents as the jacket. Both pieces are currently available at SWAGGER dealers and stores in Japan.

In celebrating their 12th anniversary, SWAGGER partnered up with Timex for some custom-made time pieces. The Camper model, a classic outdoor watch from Timex, was selected as a base for this project. Red ‘XII’ Roman numerals are printed on the dials to signify the anniversary of SWAGGER. Two fabric straps are packaged with the item in matching black and red colorways. Each watch comes carefully packed in a rectangular black box, printed with the 12th anniversary graphics on the inside. The watches are scheduled for delivery to SWAGGER stores and authorized accounts this week.

Rather than making their own leather riders jacket from scratch, SWAGGER opted to reach out to Schott for their unparalleled expertise. The 618 model is a classic double breasted, leather motorcycle jacket using Deluxe Heavy Steerhide. These jackets are Union Made right here in US, equipped with belted front, bi-swing back, underarm footballs, zipped pockets and sleeves. Faux-fur collar can be attached and detached with ease, and on the inside the nylon insulation lining provides warmth. These jackets are offered in black and brown colorways and will be available at SWAGGER stores and authorized retailers Japan wide.

Influenced by the gang cultures across the globe, the SWAGGER drops the low tech Cross Paisley sneakers. The Cross Paisley pattern was created especially for this season and it translates the West Coast gang styles onto a monotone paisley graphic. Uppers of the sneakers are covered in the aforementioned pattern and it is contrasted by white shoe laces and matching eyelets. On the heel section of the white foxing is a SWAGGER patch and black pin stripe wraps around the top of the midsole. On the inside the SWG logo and sneaker size is indicated on the heel of the cream insole in black screen print. These sneakers are currently in stock at SWAGGER stockists around the world and ARKWAX online store.

Street appeal is at the root of the SWAGGER brand and their innovative approach makes for a good surprise each season. Apart from their standard seasonal items, the Tokyo brand reached out to luggage specialist PORTER for a capsule collection. The only visible link to the current Spring/Summer 2011 collection is the Cross Paisley bandanna that compliments each item.
Stealth look is achieved by unifying the exterior in all black imitation leather material and matching black stitching. New releases from SWAGGER’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection are scheduled for the third week of February. From street gang inspirations and other various cultural references, each design is simple yet direct in execution. The Domino Sweat Shirt comes in black or heather gray with contrasting screen prints of domino pieces stacked up nicely. Borrowing the intricate artwork of gang tattoos, the Rosary t-shirts are produced in basic black or white monotones. SWAGGER custom designed the Cross Paisley pattern for this season with their simple stole as an all over print.
