It is unusual for WTAPS to use vivid primary colors on their products, yet this is a welcome change that definitely works. The Sherpa Jacket is a classic silhouette which appears in every Winter collection and this year it is made in a bright blue tone. Standard features such as water resistance, wind proofing and breathability has been correctly addressed. Furthermore, its large storm hood is equipped with an one-hand adjustable strap for quick alteration of its fit. All of the seams are fully taped and each pocket is accompanied by waterproofed zips as well. This piece should be available at your nearest WTAPS stockist or head over to HAVEN in Canada.

Anticipation for this VANS Syndicate x WTAPS collaboration was stoked this past summer, when images of the shoes first surfaced online. Bearing the infamous “Bones” design motif last seen on the navy-colored collaborative pack from Fall 2007, this latest series sees the Sk8-Hi, Chukka Boot and Era styles done up in a tasty burgundy colorway. Each model is constructed with a combination of suede and canvas on the upper and highlighted with white accents and midsoles. They’re arriving at VANS Syndicate retailers now, like Encino’s Primitive, where they’re set to release in-store only on December 9th at 11 am. Southern Californians, set your alarm clocks and get there early, as these are sure to fly off the shelves.

In any industry 25 years is a long time to be running a business, that is especially the case if it is in the print medium. Japanese men’s fashion magazine, MEN’S NON-NO is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year and they have partnered up with some heavyweights in the Japanese men’s fashion arena. Familiar names such as UNDERCOVER, WTAPS, uniform experiment, miharayasuhiro have all contributed to the special collection, along with Japanese fashion labels Lad Musician, marka, Black & Blue and Universal Products. All of the items are currently available as pre-order through ZOZOTOWN online shopping mall in Japan.

This will be the first time WTAPS founder/designer Tetsu Nishiyama have opened a retail store and GIP-STORE consolidates his two ventures, WTAPS and free zine, FORTY PERCENT AGAINST RIGHTS under one roof. The store opened its doors last Saturday, coinciding with the release of the Autumn/Winter 2011 collection from WTAPS. And now the official website has launched online as well. GIP-STORE stands for Guerrilla the Incubation Period, which refer to the store being the hideout for guerrillas. The store is open everyday from noon until 8pm at night and for those keen to connect with them digitally, Twitter and Facebook sites have been set up as well.

The genius of WTAPS is the effortless way in which designer TET can grab bits and pieces from seemingly disparate subcultures — workwear, MIL-SPEC, rockabilly, mod — and blend the individual pieces into a cohesive whole. That’s the alchemy at play in the brand’s fall/winter collection, “Way of Life.” Premium materials and craftsmanship with a keen attention to detail are exhibited in garments like the M-51 jacket or the Lumber Jack built with Harris Tweed, but more importantly, the entire range is shot through with character and attitude. Look for the first shipment of “Way of Life” to start hitting WTAPS retailers in early September, but in the meantime check out more images from the lookbook after the jump.

WTAPS‘ designer Tetsu Nishiyama (better known simply as TET) has masterminded a brand that combines the best elements of military and trad styling, with notes from biker culture occasionally thrown into the mix. The WTAPS fall/winter 2011 collection, dubbed “Way of Life,” carries on TET’s singular vision, with military jackets blending seamlessly with Americana staples like plaid flannels and worn denim. Technical outerwear makes a welcome addition to the lineup as well. Check out the various looks modeled by Blackflag staff after the jump. via honeyee

While readers may be most familiar with WTAPS through their frequent high quality Vans releases, you are missing out if you don’t have the heads up on the entire range from this Harajuku based brand. Their recently released camera shoulder bag, pictured above, is just one example of the clean accessories that they’ve been pumping out for years. This tough canvas bag comes with a carabiner closure system in place of a typical fastener. Continue reading for a full look at the new camera shoulder bag from WTAPS, available at retailers like Firmament in Berlin.

Every season it’s likely that admirers of the brand WTAPS look forward to the label’s lifestyle accessories as much as anything. Case in point: the beach bag from WTAPS, composed of equal parts utility and style. The canvas bags come in either black or olive drab, with rope straps providing a nautical flavor and leather handles for comfort. Available now at Slam Jam.

Good news for VANS fanatics who missed out on the two previous VANS Syndicate/WTAPS Bones packs: they’re back, this time in burgundy. The models are a Sk8-Hi, Chukka Boot and Era, with design elements virtually identical to the navy-colored 005 series from fall 2007, the major difference being the new tongue tags that bear the WTAPS logo. Look for them at VANS Syndicate retailers sometime this fall. via: HS
