This week, momentous events are taking place in Denver, Colorado, host city of the Democratic National Convention. Already, last night saw Barack Obama, the Senator from Illinois, to become the first African American to be nominated as Presidential candidate for a major political party.  Tonight, the Senator will once again make history as he accept the nomination.

To coincide with the occasion, UNDRCRWN (Under-Crown) dropped its O-Face t-shirt early this week at Denver’s The 400 boutique.  Now, the tee is on sale at UNDRCRWN’s online store.  O-Face feature a caricature of Obama driving for a dunk.  But, if you look closely, another caricature, with “McCain” name tag and white flag of surrender in hand, dodging to get out of the way.  Printed in the background is Stars & Stripes O, the marking of the Obama campaign.  Available in black or heather gray.

*Note* Avid Obama supporter, Spike Lee, was seen wearing the tee during a television interview.

Subcrew have been getting busy with their Summer ‘08 line and they have introduced the ladies line to compliment their already strong mens line this season. Based on bold graphics accented with pop colors and slogans, Subcrew have been penetrating markets outside of their home city of Hong Kong. Though Summer is yet to be officially over, most labels are already  preparing for the Fall season with transitional products, like this cotton knit skull cap from Original Fake - the collaborative brand created by KAWS and MEDICOM TOY.  As part of the 2nd round August release, the cotton knit cap, available in 3 color schemes, features KAWS’ “chomper/teeth” markings around the brim.  A second version features larger “chomper/teeth” graphics.

But since Summer is not officially over yet, this 2nd round August release also include 2 new t-shirts: the Girl Circle T-Shirt with a Companion face superimposed on a partial nude woman; and the OF Smoking Skeleton Tee.  Both designs are also available in 3 different colorways.

After nearly a month worth of construction, the Parisian trend-setting boutique Colette finally re-opened its doors Monday, August 25th. Re-drawn by none other than architect Masamichi Katayama (片山 正通), one of the world’s best retail space designer and the founder of design firm Wonderwall. Sections were revamped and displays relocated. The end result is a vast expanse much like a museum or gallery. A clear definition on merchandise categories as well as brands, with each liken to a capsule collection. Similar to other Katayama creations, the new Colette also features plenty of lighting and futuristic glass+aluminum casings. In addition, the boutique is overhauling its online presence, with the recent inclusion of We Sold Out (Sold Out) and soon to launch blog section.

Its been 5 years since the opening of Kinetics, a retailer snug in the center of Harajuku district in Tokyo.  The store also has the distinction to be one of the few stores in Tokyo metro area with Nike Jordan Brand account.  In celebration of its 5th anniversary, Kinetics is releasing a collaborative t-shirt with NYC’s own Staple Design. And like all Staple Design products, the Kinetics 5th Anniversary Tee delve deep in symbolism.  The front print features icons of bomb (with red X on top) and peace with Kinetics logo intersect in between, which equate as movement for peace - not war.  Printed on the rear, the definitions of the words Kinetics and Catalysis.  Another unique aspect is all print on the tee are in glow-in-the-dark ink.

Set to launch in October, the Kinetics x Staple Design - Kinetics 5th Anniversary T-Shirt is now available for pre-release reservation at ARMTH chapter of ZOZOTOWN.

As Senator Barack Obama becomes the first Minority to be officially nominated as Presidential candidate here in the U.S.  Our friends at 10.Deep fittingly launched their new lookbook for the Delivery 1 of Fall 2008 collection.  Inspired by the current down turn in U.S. politics and the cautious optimism for the near future.  The lookbook, titled New World Order and shot in a Masonic Temple by photographer Brian Cleaver, played on the the suspicion of a secret government in line for world domniation.  It highlights the new Veni Vidi Vici, the Latin phrase uttered by Julius Caesar, “I came, I saw, I conquered“. The new collection will include a wide range addition of plaid button-up shirts, fleece sweatshirts, and outerwear composed of hi-tech fabrics.  Be on the look out for the new collection to drop at retailers near you on September 2nd.

July 31st marked a special day to designer Jean Touitou - the grand opening of the newest flagship to Touitou’s A.P.C. (Atelier Production Creation) network, this time at the trendy Tokyo neighborhood of Aoyama.  To mark the occasion, a specially hand-printed t-shirt was made available.  Featured the bold print of “Katayama Kita Aoyama” on front and “A.P.C. x Wonderwall” on the back, both as references to the contributions from famed architect Masamichi Katayama (片山 正通) and his company, Wonderwall, put into the new store front.  Originally only available at the new flagship, the tee is now available at A.P.C. chapter within ZOZOTOWN online shopping network.

After a year worth of design and finalization, the first atmos collaboration with outerwear maker Penfield is scheduled to launch on September 5th.  In order to provide the most suitable outerwear in the unpredictable seasonal transition between Summer and Fall.  Both Penfield and atmos selected the Full Spin nylon jacket as their collaboration base.  The lightweight jacket is both water resistant and wind-proof, ideal solution to the stated criteria.  Available in 2 distinctive colorways: black vertical stripes on gray and multi-color (blue/pink/lavender) stripes on white.  Each jacket features a rainbow shade Penfield logo embroidered on the left chest and atmos logo on the sleeve plus zipper pull.  Because of the anticipated high demand for this jacket, atmos-Tokyo is taking orders starting today, August 27th, through its online store.  Orders can also by submit in person at the atmos-Tokyo flagship in the heart of Harajuku.
