Hawaii’s KICKS/HI is going island hopping!!!  The planning and staging took more than a year, but finally KICKS/HI’s Guam flagship is set to open this weekend.  Located in the warm, turquoise water of western South Pacific, the island, which is a territory of United States, has been a major get away spot for stressed out Japanese and Australian visitors.  Join the festivities this Friday on the white sand beach of Tumon Bay, just a short hop from the Guam International Airport.

Cinema Tuesdays and Nike Sportswear at The Montalbán Present: Megunica

Nike Sportswear at The Montalbán, in conjunction with Cinema Tuesday, are proud to present the U.S. Premiere of Megunica at Nike Sportswear at The Montalbán, Nike Sportswear’s unique retail and event space located at the center of Hollywood.  The acclaimed film, directed by Italian filmmaker Lorenzo Fonda,  follows the acclaimed street artist Blu on his road trip adventures though Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Argentina. The unique film, which intermix with spectacular cinematography with Blu’s own innovative animation, MUTO, an animated painting film became a viral hit with over two million YouTube views in one month.  A reception will be held follow by the screening and a special Q & A session with Lorenzo Fonda.  All will take place tomorrow, September 23rd.  You definitely don’t want to miss this.

KAWS will be getting ready for his first solo show since 2002 this upcoming week as he opens up his “Saturated” show in Miami at the Emmanuel Perrotin Gallery. The show will feature a variety of canvases that KAWS has worked with and includes pieces that are inspired by Sponge Bob, who has become quite the popular character after collaborations with A Bathing Ape. The show will start on September 20th, 2008 and run through November 15th, 2008. via La MJC

The timing couldn’t be better as RVCA launches its Spring/Summer 2009 collaboration with supermodel turned designer Erin Wasson at New York City’s Lower East Side last Thursday, September 4th. The launch party, with a who’s who from NYC’s fashion/art world, accompanied with campaign photos by Terry Richardson.  Check out the festivities above on a 2.5 minutes YouTube clip created by RVCA.  In the meantime, the much anticipated Erin Wasson x RVCA will be available starting Spring of 2009 at Opening Ceremony and selected retailers world wide.

To coincide with the start of Fashion Week here in New York City, ARTFUL DODGER, along with artists collective ilovedust, plus Anthony Mandler Photography, Vault 49 and Spread Design, created an one night only exhibition at Chelsea Art Museum last Saturday, September 5th.  The event gave invited guests a peek of the upcoming ARTFUL DODGER collection for Fall and Winter, a change in the label’s design focus towards more contemporary styling.  Event goers also got the opportunity to see artworks specifically created for the occasion and a brief look at VIP newly wed Jay Z and Beyonce.
