Japanese retailer CHAPTER WORLD just recieved the 2nd batch of Visvim’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection, including the Christo Mayan shown above.  Composed of premium leather footbed on EVA midsole and black rubber outsole, Visvim creative director Hiroki Nakamura (中村ヒロキ) designed it with Japan’s humid Summer months in mind.  When it came to unique detailing, of which Visvim is known for.  Nakamura enlisted the assistance from an unlike source - tribes from Guatemala, who still retained the knowledge of their Mayan ancestors.  Hence, the unique, hand weaved straps that adorned the upper.  Retails for JP¥ 25,200 (US$ 236), this very limited merchandise is only available through pre-order with CHAPTER WORLD. A Japanese label with emphasis on rustic and leisure styling, CACTUS recently released its 2nd collaboration with footwear maker UBIQ. The UBIQ x CACTUS Ilis boots preserved much of the functionality and looks of the usual hiking boots.  This includes D-Ring lacing system, padded upper, and reinforced seams. However, the similarities end there.  Instead of heavy duty leather or Gore-Tex uppers.  The Ilis has an upper composed from canvas and suede.  Its toe box and sole are rubber based with sneaker-like treads.  Making Ilis a crossover between sneaker and hiking boots, entailed benefits from both forms. Come in 3 different colorways, the UBIQ x CACTUS - Ilis Boots is currently available at CACTUS and UBIQ retailers in Japan as well as FLAUGE store in ZOZO shopping network.

It is a known fact to everyone that Kanye West is a big fan of Louis Vuitton, last Friday at the Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 menswear show in Paris’ Jardins de Bagatelle he disclosed that he’s collaborating on a men’s shoe line for the brand.
