Subscript, which debuted in Spring 2005, is an ongoing design experiment that employs widely disparate, sub/cultural references, combined with heavy-handed graphic design. Presently limited to no more than 300 cut-and-sew pieces per style, Subscript combines meticulous attention to detail while integrating traditional and luxury fabrics thereby providing a sophisticated interpretation of classic streetwear.
Inspired intensely by the hand-sketched works of several Renaissance masters, the Spring 2007 collection is a heavily graphic mix of medieval, regal and anatomical visual themes. A subtheme sees many classic fashion all-over patterns (eg. houndstooth) are knocked-off and messily reproduced via: screenprinting,
Dressy, luxurious fabrics dominate the collection, but only presented in staple, military silhouettes. Other, more basic cotton twills and knits are omnipresent as well, bearing hand painting, roller painting, over dying and other heavy-handed treatments. Denim will be raw, with a varying degree of metallic treatments.
The Spring 2007 palette features a blend of pop colors with dark and medieval imagery. Tiffany Blue and a fluorescent Dirty Pink join the traditional brand range of Olive, Khaki and Black.
