Most likely you have read about the following collaboration. However, since it was so widely mis-reported, it warrant a second look. BEAMS International Gallery, part of the Japanese retail chain BEAMS, recently teamed up with French-Italian mountaineering apparel brand, Moncler, to produce these rare down jackets, with designs by the famed Japanese graphic artist, Keiichi Tanaami. (NOT Tanami Satoshi as reported by some since such artist does not exist)
These limited edition jackets are based on Moncler's popular Karakorum down jackets, with a total of 9 different graphics to chose from. There is also a pane of comic, printed in French and English, on cleaning instruction on the inside.
Japanese graphic artist Keiichi Tanaami considered as one of pioneers of contemporary Japanese graphics. He became famous during 1960s when he mixed psychedelic colors and designs, popular in the west at the time, into the more traditional Japanese graphic designs. Since then, he's been the subject of major exhibitions and winning admiration, including British fashion designer Paul Smith.
