The last time a sneaker with pigeon markings went on the market, it almost caused a riot in Lower East Side, with the entire ruckus landed on NYC newspapers the next day. This year, Jeff Staple and the crew from Staple Design will take a “stab” at it once again, recreate the iconic pigeon concept, this time on the classic New Balance M575.
With succession of layers, each in the characteristic colors and hues of a common pigeon, the New Balance M575 is the ideal model for this project. To convey the design concept, the sole and interior lining are both in bright orange, as symbolism to its feet. At the heel, 2 embroideries of the bird, one in flight and other in stand still, reinforce the theme further.
Currently, the number of the unit is set around 650 pairs world wide, though that number is subject to change. At some retail locations, a coordinating t-shirt will be launch with the sneaker as well.
