Though all 3 are closely affiliated with one another, the brands trio of HECTIC, MASTERPIECE, and ROC STAR drawn on each of their own design themes from quite different sources. Both MASTERPIECE and HECTIC focused on hip-hop and fixed gear cycling. Meanwhile, ROC STAR and the label's creative director, DJ Daruma, takes the label's design cues from Tokyo club kids.
ROC STAR Fall/Winter 2008 collection marks the label's first foray into the sneaker category. Simply named "The Shoes", it comes in all black or all white, a reflection of the growing popularity in monotone sequence. The construction is mostly suede upper with 3 Velcro straps in patent leather on a mid-top frame. Interior is lined with "Gabi Gabi", ROC STAR's own version of the dazzle camouflage pattern. The ROC STAR - The Shoe Sneaker is currently available at the HECTIC flagship in Harajuku, its online store, and select retailers such as eproze chapter of ZOZOTOWN shopping network.
