Since the (RED) campaign garnered a great amount of press and public attention towards AIDS relief, a number of labels and companies have hopped in with similar AIDS benefit projects. H&M had collaborated with a number of artists and designers on their Fashion Against AIDS collection this year, but Martin Margiela had been working on the same cause since 2003. The AIDS Charity Tee was first produced in Autumn/ Winter 2003, and had been seasonally reproduced in different colorways since. A portion of the profits from sales goes to benefit Aides, a French organization dedicated to supporting persons living with HIV and those around them. Aides is one of the most important NGOs in Europe for AIDS/HIV.
The AIDS Charity Tee humorously and fittingly reads " There is more action to be done to fight AIDS than wear this t-shirt, but it's a good start". With every bit of satricial and biting humor as the other Margiela pieces, this t-shirt is produced from 100% cotton and by now a classic Margiela tee. This season's AIDS Charity Tee just got in at oki-ni.
