Joy Ride Art Exhibition - Jacques Ferrand Leather Bound Bike
Wanting to demonstrate everyday objects could morph into a product of luxury and sophistication, French artist Jacques Ferrand submit his creation, a leather bound fixed gear bike, for this year's Joy Ride Art Exhibition.
Demurely titled Le Velo Pain O' chocolat, or The Chocolate Bread Bike, Ferrand obtained a vintage Mercier track bike, purged much of the grime, rust, and original paint, then went about applying his leather craft on it. The result after 70+ hours of work was a bike uniquely its own. Featuring applications of 8 different leathers, each in different hues of brown, including exotic skins like crocodile and ostrich. The bike, along with 50 more works of art, are currently on view across the 4 venues of Joy Ride Art Exhibition in New York City.
